Sam Ashton - better than Pele
A while back, there was a slightly daft attempt (I think by FIFA) to judge who was the best football player ever. I say its daft, because its quite hard to compare players from different eras. The ball is different, training methods better etc. Anyway Pele is probably quite a nice chap, but Maradona shouldve won it, if I remember rightly. Not quite fitting with the image wanted by FIFA (they dont currently have an official cocaine provider of the World Cup), Pele sort of won it or got joint first through some last minute voting.
Of course, an equally ludicrous way of deciding which player is the greatest of all time, would be to see who has chipped the keeper from the furthest away.
Pele tried it. Beckham made it. This chap from Kobenz didnt do to badly either...

but Im afraid nothing can quite beat the power and precision of our own Sam Ashton. Here is his goal (along with the other 3 scored down in Retford at the weekend)...

FIFA might not recognise it, but Sam has been superb this season, both in and in front of goal!
