Black Veil Brides - Legion Of The Black

So what changed my view on them you ask to look this short film out you ask? Well as the ad played for the first time I was at first thinking okay, some new band that doesn't sound to bad (was on another tab waiting for the Ad to finish) but then I heard the voice over say it was BVB. I was of course  surprised and looked up the song and was rather surprised at the new sound. I enjoyed it honestly. Was it generic yea, but from what I knew them as before they sounded very good now. Mostly the thing that kept me listing was Andy's voice. When it wasn't doing that typical post-hardcore screamo shit it sounded very good. And here I wasn't hearing that screaming crap. So i got the song In The End and have had it on my phone for the past 2 months. I pretty much listen to it every time i drive and don't forget my aux cable at home. So why didn't I look into other songs on the CD? Well I wanted to buy it honestly. But this being Wisconsin the only store i know around here that has CDs is Best Buy, which only has about 2 racks of CDs. For whatever reason they are only Rap or Classic Rock. Good job Best Buy, ya know I live close to Milwaukee I kinda figured that maybe you'd have more of a section of music then that. The other store is Hot Topic, which always had the Cd sold out. The only other time they had it was with a shirt and I wasn't committed to buying a shirt for the band when I wasn't sure I i liked them more then just one song on the list. So I still don't own the CD (at the time of this writing). 

Anyway lets get on with this Short Film shall we? Our film opens up with Raven from Twisted Metal Black. Why do I call her this? Don't ever recall seeing her name. So she is Raven. She is on her way to high school (In all the latest BVB gear) and man I wish I went to her school when i was in high school. It looked to be roughly 8am when she got there and was the only one there. She sits in the bleachers of the football field a little and starts to write in her journal the lyrics to the song playing (Wretched And Divine). After Raven does this for a little bit she decides to go see the rest of the kids. Smiling and waving to non goth/emo kids. Okay, so she isn't a bitch to everyone who isn't her in look. That's good. Cut to her in class. Now like every other Goth/Emo kid I knew she is drawing and writing her own crap not giving to fucks about school (Like most people in high school). After being told to turn it off and pay attention and not doing so she gets kicked out of class. Not a surprise to be honest. Though as she is in the office she is still drawing and stuff in her note book. Okay like seriously Raven? You are already in shit, why show disrespect here but whatever. 

Cut to our first view of this dessert wasteland looking place and our first look of the heroes of this BVB. Dressed in all black leather and jeans and torn up clothes and black emo hair. And just to get this out of the way, yes I think Andy is fucking hot. But that isn't my main focus on this. We then see some girl  covered in black paint and this Venetian Mask running from this big black dude. Black as in hes in this black cloak with this gnarly skull helm. The rest of the scene is this girl running from this big dude and his big fuck off spear with this logo at the top which from the looks of it would be a better weapon then the spear but that's just me. So come on, who do you think wins this chase? If you said the chick you have to be stupid. She falls and big black stabs her in the gut and she drops the BVB star, by the way her black is black. So aside from skin is everything in this world black? 

So yea, chicks dead and now we more inside this big fuck off tower in the middle of a dessert and this evil white lookin dude gives a monologuel about how fear is the only thing that can protect you. 

Cut back to the real world and Raven is home with her parents who start yelling at her. Clearly for being a twat in school and not doing her work. The her father holds up one of her drawings yelling, obviously Raven doesn't like what is said cuz she grabs her bag and try to leave. Her parents hold her in place then BAM front door is kicked in. Now I'm like, okay dafaq. And these dudes tackle her and drug her and put her in an ambulance. Cut back to the other world and Andy looks over the dead chick and bring her back to his oil refinery . As this is going on we cut back to Raven who we find out is in a mental hospital. Once again, im not big on smarts or anything but seriously. All she did was write dark stuff and draw gothic shit and got in trouble at school. SO CLEARLY THE REASONABLE RESPONSE IS TO PUT HER IN A MENTAL WARD!? Best parents ever.

Another monologue from the big bad dude in the BVB world. Lets call him... Sith Lord. Back to Raven who is now asleep on her mental ward bed holding onto the BVB star she had which i guess the hospital crew just forgot to take from her. As she sleeps the next song starts and we see the viking funeral of the chick covered in black. As she burns away her ashes fall onto Raven in her room. So being the super smart girl she is takes the ashes, mixes it with water and starts to paint the big fuck off black guys on the tiled wall. Okay Raven, now your just being stupid. I get art helps you feel better but of all the things to art. A big black fuck off goth thing on your cell wall. Its not like this art got you in here or anything OH WAIT IT DID!

Cut back to BVB world (gonna be seeing the words cut back to a lot in this) And we see the inside of that tower again and see screaming and dying young adults. Covered in guess what, black shit. We also now get to see the name of the BVB guys in this world. The Wild Ones. Excuse me but I'm sorry. You cant call yourself that when SpongeBob and Patrick already used that name. Cut back to Raven and guess what happens. The crew run in, tackle her, and pull her from the room and do something to her. I'm guessing try to "cleanse" her. Yes I feel bad but Raven, you did that to yourself by drawing big black on the wall. 

Small speech from Andy about not knowing if there is in fact a god but his soul prays for one. Now I'm worried this is some big Christian Emo group. 

Back to Black Field Asylum and we see Raven being put back into her room and looks like a big pile of shit. eyes tired, eye liner looks like it was hardcore washed off her face but poorly. This is laced with The Mild Ones starting to gear up for a fight. Painting black flags wit the BVB star in white paint. The whole crew walks from the oil refinery to the place where Andy found dead chick. Back in the real world Raven goes bat shit breaking the desk in her room and takes out the camera in her room. Oh good job, now you know they are after, oh wait never mind Andy dropped a key in your cell to get out. Wait what. I know i glanced over this before but how are the worlds crossing? And I guess its safe to assume dead covered in black chick in Raven in that BVB world. Anyway, Raven leaves her cell and finds a church. That Christian thing coming back and starting to worry me even more now. Oh shit she is praying. Back in Goth land the Mild Ones are now at fuck off tower and some little shit kid they have runs up and trows the star at the big fuck off black guys. Note four of then and 20 of the Mild ones including BVB. Even with the odds in their favor I think the big blacks are gonna win. Then up comes one of the dudes from BVB and Jax Slams the earth and kill the four big black dudes. Okay dude, if you could have done that before why haven't you guys done this earlier? So BVB and Mild Ones storm Fuck Off Enterprise and start to free the people inside. Big Black group of 4 try to stop them but BVB and crew kill the dudes rather easily now and leave. 

The Sith Lord gives another speech, saying how BVB and crew won the battle and got the people free. Saying how you cant trust science to get free, only fear can. Okay so these big black dudes are the Christians? Cut back to IRL and Raven is leaving the church and Black Field cut with her parents back home looking the stuff of their daughter looking, upset? you mean they feel remorse for sending Raven to a Black Feild. Never woulda guessed that. No I'm serious, I thought we'd never see them again let alone with them being upset. If anything thought they woulda been in BVB world as the big evil mother fuckers. 

Sith lord giving another speech as BVB world Raven leaves Fuck Off Towers and... oh no. She is the chick covered in black shit from the start of all of this. In The End starts to play and we see the Mild Ones fighting again. So it seems like this fight between them happens a lot but they never seem to really win if big fuck off black guys keep getting and capturing people. Kinda a bleak outlook on things yet to a point realistic I guess. I mean, just cause we took Jews out of one camp in WW2 didn't really mean the Nazi's gave up. Gotta take out the leader to win. 

So then probably the darkest image of this whole thing comes up after In The End is done playing. We see some chick in this temple looking room bent over and slowly rise up. In all white and Red and this big gold head piece  As we see her face it looks like Raven, then she screams really loud and throws up all this black shit and boom credits. So we are getting a squeal I take it?

Okay well this wasn't to bad of a short film. I got to hear the cd finally and glad to say I'm very much enjoying this new sound BVB has gone with. Also, In The End isn't my favorite song off said album. I really dig the title track. But would I recommend this to people who have never seen BVB before or to those who didn't like them before. Honestly, yes I would. Its not the most amazing music short film I've seen but it tells a story and oddly enough I really enjoyed this. Will I watch it again, yea prolly around fall or maybe to show to others. 

Black Veil Brides' Legion Of The Black gets an 8 out of 10.

The Breakfast Club Text Review

              These are just some notes I'm taking while watching it again to see if i still feel the same way about it i did in high school. So I guess this can count as a review of sorts. -Love the theme to this movie, so damn catchy. -Bender is my inner self, a smart ass and jerk (comes out if we are friends). On the outside though I'm a mix of Brian and Allison, shy, kinda freaky, and always trying to keep the peace in a group of strangers. Granted I like Wrestling though. -Oh Andrew called him a faggot, is that really a hate term still these days, I mean I use it and I'm gay lol. -Aww that squeal of Amanda when Richard asks her for the screw, so cute ^^. -Ha! its 9 detentions not 7 or 8, both of em are wrong lol. -Lol, Brian and the awkward boner, ew thats not snow, what/who is Clair thinking about, Andrew with the paperfootball of the year touchdown WOOOO! Why haven't I seen a gif on here yet followed by the calling for Bender's head as he tears up these books? -I kinda wanna know a bit more behind the sudden "HA!" from Allison.  -Such pussy middle fingers in this movie. (lol nitpicking)  -Lol Molly Ringwald got bigger (but thin again) weird foreshadowing. -I wonder if they'd change Bender's race if they re-made this movie. -I love how most of this movie doesn't have a soundtrack so far when they are talking, really sets the mood. -Lol it was 3 hits, not two. -"`Cause I'd kill you." *pulls out switchblade and jabs in chair next to Allison* Allison being smart and taking the knife so Bender doesn't use it or taking it because she likes knifes, hmm? -Carl showing why you don't screw with or around the janitors... also a bit of a creep. -Group whistling before lunch, seems a little weird and out of place but okay. -Allison seeing right though Andrew's BS, Love it -OMG I NEVER NOTICED CLAIR WAS LOOKING AT A PRINCE RECORD WHEN SHE CAUGHT THE COKE CAN!!! -Dear god Andrew, gonna feed all the jews with Jesus with that mountain of food? -One thing im always kinda confused by, Is Allison really this weird (the pixie-stick captain crunch sandwich) like does she really just like it? I mean, people like doritos on pb&j so maybe that is like it or just a cry for attention? -Now its time for Lunch with Brian and Bender, am I the only one who thinks Brian is a Uke and Bender is the mean Seme? -Bender's home life needs to be redone with Egoraptor in his place, it'd be such a tone change for the guy, in a good way. Btw, love the tone change in Benders voice when Andrew says hes lying, you can see it hits him right in the heart more then anything else up to this point.  -So why does Andrew seem to be a bigger dick to me then Bender? -There is no way you can run in an empty school like this with out being heard, your footsteps are so damn loud. -You know what woulda really sucked, if Richard came around the conner and was right in front of the rest of the gang and not Bender. I wonder what woulda happened then.  -Where is Bender after high school? And he just walks in after falling though the ceiling like nothing happened.    -Teenagers, we have one thing in common, weed. Oh wait, except for us edge kids lol. Holy shit dude... way to hot box a room christ. It's gonna smell like weed in there for days.  -I wanna know more about Allison's life outside of the school, she really seems confused by everything. How people and how the world works. I get shes ignored but just leaving it at that makes me wanna more about her. -Have I mentioned that I love this scene when they are sitting around on the and Clair admits shes a virgin and show her trick, what Andrew did to get in, why Brain doesn't like himself and that Allison is just a liar for the lulz? It is just so damn good and gives me chills. -And just what Brian asks and what Clair says really is the truth sadly. It's what got me so pissed about this Amanda Todd thing, for one day everyone is sorry and nice to each other but it goes back to "normal" come Monday.  -And here comes the mood killer for the rest of this movie, the moments Andrew laughs at Brain for his flare gun for going off. From this point I don't care for this movie, maybe its because i feel its to sudden of a change or I wanted it to stay serious but I feel like it just gets weird now. With them hooking up with each other and what not, it just bugs me. I'm sorry if the rest of the fans don't agree with me but its just how I feel. Things move way to fast into happy-land. -Or maybe its that I feel that Brain shouldn't be the one with out a girl, I mean of all people for Allison to hook up with the jockey dicky football guy? And its clear that Clair and Bender are getting together just to piss off her parents.  Just, god this ending. I hate it xD Well after viewing it again I can tell you I still feel the same way about this movie  great until the last 10 minutes. Though, It gives me great character ideas for writing.  6 out of 10, slightly above average. yes those last ten minutes really lower it for me, if the movie had a not so sudden perfect happy ending then I'd give it 8 out of 10. -The review in pictures- the initial 1 hour 21 minutes and 48 seconds are then it goes to this for the last 10 minuets.    -Sam Nail
