SAM WEEK ★ DAY 1 ►
Why do you like Sam so much?
#SamWeek
Sam sings Elvis!
@ Oliver Steinhoff - Elvis Las Vegas Show
So... It's Sammy Week, huh? IT SHOULD BE YEAR OF THE SAMMY!
Well, I've read so many "Why I Love Sam" posts, so forgive if this repeats some of what they say... Us Sam!girls all love basically the same things about him :)
For all the mistakes Sam has made, he is flawless to me. When people say they can't forgive him for his demon blood addiction... It bugs me, really bugs me. Why did he drink demon blood? TO GET STRONGER, TO STOP LILITH. He didn't do that because he liked the high the demon blood gave him, he didn't do that because he got a rush. It was NEVER for that. He did it to maybe save more people, so the possessed wouldn't die. He knew what that would do to him and he did it anyways, to try and stop more evil from spreading and innocent from dying. He chose a demon over his own brother because he thought it would help stop Lilith and save Dean. He didn't do it because "Oh... My brother or a demon... Yup, going with the demon." I know what did was wrong and so does he, but Sam's intentions were pure and selfless, just like he has always been.
Another thing that makes my heart ache for Sammy is his guilt, his yearning to be forgiven. After all he's done, whether under his control or not, the guilt he feels nearly crushes him. He never stops at striving to be forgiven, he never stops at "It's okay, Sammy." Even when Dean is raised by Castiel, he wishes it was him. He apologizes for not being the one to raise his brother from Hell. And when he was soulless, that wasn't Sam in there. We know that, Dean and Bobby and Cas know that. And even Sam knows that, but it isn't something he accepts. If it was his meatsuit, it was his fault. It's something he must fix. Who else on earth would think that?
But the one thing that I absolutely love about Samuel Winchester, is how he hasn't changed... Did she mean to say that? She said he hasn't changed? ... Yep, I did. Since the beginning, Sam has been about sacrifice and love. Throughout seasons 3 and 4 and 5, he did what he did for others. That has always been Sammy. Of course, I miss the adorable, boy with the bangs Sam of season 1 and 2... But he has learned and grown so much. That Sammy was a boy and our Sammy has grown into a man... I've loved every stage of Sam (except Soulless!Sam... I don't consider that a real part of him, despite what he says) and I feel like he needed them all to become who he is... The Samuel Winchester who will always be my most favorite fictional character, the Samuel Winchester I have never stopped loving.
