the ncisverse crossover trailer having a proper sam/deeks moment is everything :)
"i love it when he gets that look." - deeks about sam
you and me both, deeks :)
"god, i MISSED you today." - deeks to sam
you and me both, deeks. you and me both.
also, that was such a good first sam/deeks scene for the season.
one of the things that i found the most interesting about sam & deeks’ dynamic in season 1 is that sam actually didn’t have an issue with deeks. not at first anyway. i mean, he was short with him and clearly irritated but so were the rest of the team but sam’s issues with deeks didn’t start until the moment he saw deeks sitting in dom’s seat, at dom’s desk and playing with dom’s bobble head - making him realise that deeks was basically there to replace dom (which sam had made clear a few episodes earlier he wasn’t okay with because it implied that dom would either never be found or wouldn’t be found alive). i know why they went in the direction they did with sam’s issues with deeks and why he didn’t trust him (especially when you take into account how sam was raised, his upbringing and the mentality instilled in him by both his father and his military career) but i really, really think it would have been much better and stronger if sam’s problem with deeks was that he couldn’t accept that he replaced dom and everything else stemmed from and was built on from that. it wouldn’t have made any difference to sam anti’s, i know that and the show had forgotten dom ever existed by the time season 2 started but it would have been a great piece of storytelling and chance for development for sam
