I couldn't falter now, I couldn't cancel. Not that I wanted to, but the rumbles in my stomach were going in all the directions. Maybe it was from my breakfast, from the ideas Emily had put in my head from the moment I told her about the invitation, or the fact that in a few minutes Shane would be at my door. I sat at the edge of my bed, and wondered why I thought it was a good idea to let her know, to seek advice. Her words had been as equally helpful as they were tormenting. What if it was a date? But what if it wasn't? Did I want it to be a date? Did I ever know, in my whole damn life, what I wanted? Beans. Beans!
