How many of us are prepared for Jesus’s return? Are we really ready to meet him face-to-face? Are we Sunday believers, Christmas-and-Easter Christians? Or are we truly followers of Christ? When we accept Christ and choose willingly to follow Him, we are entrusted with all authority, because we are acting in His name. (Matthew 10:1). If we are His disciples, then we are entrusted with the power to do all things in His name, and we must give God the glory He commands and deserves.. 

Scripture tells us this: “If anyone speaks, they should do so as one who speaks the very words of God. If anyone serves, they should do so with the strength God provides, so that in all things God may be praised through Jesus Christ. To him be the glory and the power for ever and ever. Amen” (1 Peter 4:11). 

I admit, there are lots of days when I do not act in this way - I forget that I am entrusted with this authority and the power to perform miracles in His name, that I can do ALL THINGS (Philippians 4:13). I struggle to be as loving as Jesus was, and sometimes to not judge others. And some days, that’s just hard! But, when I remember that I am not my own, but His, I am strengthened and empowered. I am ready to go and make disciples, as we are all called to do. 

For the believer, we should be living as though our Savior is returning at any moment. No one knows when He will appear, but we should all live as though we will be meeting Him today. When we remember that we serve a Living God, a Holy Father, a Savior who loves us unconditionally, we are entrusted with the same power that raised Christ to life! Are we ready to live as though we are that powerful, in the Name of Jesus? Are we ready to live each day for Him - first? And to embrace and apply the power and authority He has given us through Christ?

My prayer this week - for all of us - is that we make a daily choice to take up our crosses and follow Jesus - that we begin to embrace that authority and the power to perform great miracles in His name.
