ANOTHER DAY at work, another shift soon to come to an end the Primark employee quietly folding items behind the counter that had been returned, ears perking when she overheard her co-workers laughing.
❝ OKAY, Pippa. So that’s six of us for the pub tonight. That’s all, right? ❞
THE YOUNG woman with thick hair asked the freckled blonde, the blonde furrowing her brows, ❝ Uh, yeah. Who else ? ❞ Pausing a moment, her eyes met with Shona’s a few feet away, the blonde quick to look down and clear her throat, ❝ I’ll text you the details, okay? Bye everyone ! ❞ The group smiling as a few left to clock out, others staying another hour to close.
DISAPPOINTING. But it wasn’t surprising. Frowning deeply, her hand fell on her pile of neatly folded clothes, lips pressed into a thin white line as she tried to hold back her tears. Obviously looking very hurt. Why couldn’t she fit in with them? What was so wrong with her?
HEART IN her throat, Shona finished her pile as neatly and quickly as she could, putting them away and practically ripping off her name tag as she clocked out and jogged out of there, tears forming in her eyes. Stupid. It was so stupid. So what if they didn’t like her? And what if she so happened to show up at that same pub? What could they do then?
WELL...probably worse. Ignore her in public. Adjusting the bag on her shoulders, Shona wiped her eyes, walking even faster to her flat. There was leftover chinese takeaway in the fridge just calling to her. Her favourite. That and a nice weekend watching Game of Thrones would cure everything.
But it sure would be nice to hang out with someone.
ARRIVING TO her flat in a state, Shona swung open the door, not even looking up until she stepped in, a faintly familiar figure sitting on her sofa. Brows raising, the short haired woman screamed, frantic as she backed out the door and closed it, leaving him in silence for a moment before it slowly creaked back open, an alarmed and lightly breathing Shona stepping in., pointing a shaky finger at him, ❝ Oh my GOD. ❞ She swallowed, head shaking,
❝ I KNOW this isn’t a dream. If it was--th’ flat would be spotless ! ❞
