After Sam helped stop Hydra from taking over he decided it was a good time to visit his mother in Harlem.
"Hey mom" "Hi Sammy." "How have you been?" "Good. I saw you on tv yesterday. You saved the world." "I help people, that's my job." "Well you're doing a pretty good job." They have lunch and talk. "Don't forget to take some cookies home and give some to your new friends." His mom loves baking and her famous recipe is her chocolate chip cookies. The best cookies you'll ever taste. "Of course, mom."
As he leaves her apartment he hears a woman calling his name. "Sam Wilson? Is that you?" He turns to look at a woman about his age. She looks familiar but he can't figure out who she is. "It's Misty Knight. You used to know me as Mercedes." Now he remembers. A girl a little bit older than him who lived in the same building as him, this building. He always had a bit of a crush on her but could never admit it.
"Hey Mercedes. How are you doing?" "I'm good. I'm a detective now but I don't think it's as impressive as being a super hero like you." "I wouldn't call myself that." "That's what everyone is saying. But personally I think you were a hero before all of this." Sam blushes. "Really?" "Yeah, you were always looking out for the neighbours. Anyways I gotta go but..." She gets out a piece of paper and writes something on it. "We should catch up sometime over lunch." She hands him the paper with her number on it. "Sure." "Great, I look forward to it." As she walks away Sam smiles to himself.
