So I recently did a reread of Sammy Keyes and the Skeleton Man and I got to the scene where Sammy basically crashes Heather’s Halloween party as “Princess Nikki” and honestly that whole scene is one of my favorites, but for some reason I literally forgot that in that scene we find out that Heather was obsessed with cows??? Like she has a cowhide bedspread and a twelve inch plastic cow phone? Like what? It’s so random and weird and I don’t know how I forgot this detail. And it never gets brought up again either! I need to know the story behind this

He groans and his hands start twitching, and I can tell - he’s coming around. So I put his hands in the slots of the toaster and push down the lever. Then I pull the end of the cord to the wall socket and say, “Mr. Bell, if you make one little move that I don’t like I’m going to have to toast you.” He starts to roll over, so I plug the thing in. Just for a second.

This was one of the many scenes in the SK series that I still have vivid memories about. Like Sammy just literally stuck this guy’s hands in a toaster and then proceeded to plug it in. She’s all like “just for a second”, but still at 13 years old reading this that was a next level scare tactic Sammy was pulling and it freaked me out. Moral of the story: Don’t mess with Sammy Keyes

When you realize the sweater that you let your friend use to put out a fire was actually a $500 “Louis d’Foo-Foo”

No one had ever actually seen the Bush Man. No one that I believed, anyway. Grams had told me that the stories about him were exaggerated - that he was probably just a lonesome man lost in his own world, but I never quite believed her, either.

Big houses are rotten for trick-or-treating. You have to run like crazy to get from one house to the next, half the houses have their lights off, and if they do have their porch light on, half the time the people don't even know it's Halloween. They answer the door and just kind of stare at you, and you can see them thinking, Are these kids dressed up for a reason? Is it Halloween? No, it can't be...

“You may think I’m too old to go out trick-or-treating. Grams does. She thinks that after fourth grade you’re too old. Period. And seeing how I’m in seventh grade, according to Grams I’m way too old.”

When is really the cut-off when it comes to trick-or-treating? 🤔 Is Grams right and that it stops at fourth grade? I think the last year I went trick-or-treating was when I was a freshman in high school. I wonder what Grams would say😅

Dot transformed into the Bee, and Marissa decided that she'd rather wear a gypsy costume of Dot's than wrap up in another mountain of toilet paper, and by the time they were dressed we were already an hour late.
