Identity Stunt Character Evolution: SAMI “SAM” NASSER
This week’s Character Evolution entry is Sami “Sam” Nasser, the hero of Identity Stunt! Sam was always meant to be the “everyday” guy, the character that most readers would be able to identify with. Granted, he’s far from “everyday” when our tale begins: a National Guardsmen of Middle Eastern heritage who’s traveled the world and is now both a stuntman and martial arts expert. That said, he’s still just a dude being a dude.
From a visual perspective, Sam had to be both physically imposing and just fragile enough where you really feel for him as he goes through this drama. Referencing some Hollywood leading men, I put pencil to paper and scribbled out the image at the left up there. I turned my amateurish attempt at a character design and notes over to my artist, who was once again able to breathe life into another one of my imaginary people.
And, man, die he nail my vision! Right?? Thanks to the artist, I no longer see Sam as something I created, but rather as a real, living person who I interact with on a daily basis*.
Enjoy!

Who would win a fight: Sami or Stone Cold Steve Austin?
These are two tough S.O.B.s who’re used to putting their bodies on the line for your entertainment. And while Sami wouldn’t stand a chance against the Texas Rattlesnake in a drinking contest, we think Stone Cold could live to rue the day he picked a fight with a soldier and martial arts expert.

“Try to stay calm. I’ll figure this out.”
Professional stuntman and former National Guardsman Sami “Sam” Nasser is trying to simplify his complicated life. Juggling a busy workload and managing his friend Mason’s self-destructive behavior, the Jordanian-American’s also resolving a complicated separation from his ex-wife Tracy, and trying to make time for his daughter Alyssa. Now, Sam’s been accused of being the alter ego of the notorious vigilante Beatdown … by none other than the crime fighter’s arch nemesis Dominus Smith!
Under threat from all sides with nowhere to turn and his face plastered globally across mainstream media, Sam must avoid the cops, protect himself and his loved ones, and somehow convince a madman that he’s got the wrong guy before things take a turn for the deadly!
