My interpretation of some characters I really like from other shows/games.
The four I will talk about here are: Jack Spicer, Junkrat, Karamatsu, Guzma.
Jack Spicer: Rich kid. Lonely kid. Didn’t have friends and maybe didn’t even want friends, or something happened that caused him to want to be alone. He didn’t do anything with his life, so when his parents told him to do something he wound up investing all his time into being a bad guy and wants to rule the world. Does he really want to rule the world, or does he just want people to respect him? Something tells me he wants to be paid attention to (while also being edgy) and goes about getting attention in a round-a-bout way.
I haven’t finished watching the show, but am in the process, for research purposes.
Junkrat: Jamie didn’t get a childhood in the surreal dystopian wasteland of the outback, so that’s why he is so childish now. Sure is smart as hell, but he can’t focus for shit and losing his mind laughing at everything. This might also be a coping behavior, considering. No point in being a miserable guy in a place where everything is already miserable, so why not lighten the mood? Best way he knows how is with a blast anyway.
On that note I’d like to imagine that his own curiosity of explosives is the reason why at least one of his limbs is gone. I imagine the leg was from a blast, considering his crude design and how he may have never bothered to change it later on, since his arm is a bit more advanced in comparison.
Karamatsu: The best matsu boy of the bunch, imo. He isn’t as shitty as the rest of the NEETs, but that is overshadowed by his painfully forced suave handsome persona he likes to play as. I say play as because I don’t believe that is the real Kara, and that it is in act in order to get people to like him. He actually is a really nice guy, but he just does it in the wrong way and it comes off as being extra or even creepy. If he spent a bit less time trying to copy the 80s greaser look and a bit more time finding his own look and personality he could get somewhere. But his feigned confidence will only get him so far, as I believe he is actually a very fragile character underneath the bad boy look.
He frustrates me so much, because I know he is a good guy but Jesus Christ man, do you hear yourself when you talk?!
Guzma: It has been pretty well accepted that Guzma didn’t grow in a very good home environment, had an abusive dad and who the fuck knows where his mom is. A single child I think, who really loved bug pokemon (maybe because no one liked them so he did, or cause he thought they were cool?), and may have been picked on for it too. He was probably a small kid, and got bullied a lot, and yelled at by his dad at home. I wouldn’t imagine he beat anyone else like a bully, but he learned to be loud and yell a lot, and didn’t know what to do with his temper and emotions. As leader of team skull, he has all these kids in his group, and I can’t help but believe he does his best to try to take care of them all too, as best he can. He isn’t perfect, he gets mad and yells sometimes, but has a place for them to be and belong, and everyone works together here. You can bet your ass that if he found out one of the grunts was getting bullied that he would beat the shit of them, no doubt. Guzma is like a big brother of the group, not a father figure, because he lacks the experience and knowledge, as well as control, for the position.
I can’t afford to play Pokemon so I may not know the whole story here. I probably need to spend a bit more time looking into what there is of his story.
