Fun Fact: the island of Samsø in Denmark is an island that runs completely off renewable energy (wind, solar, and biomass).
The first in the world, the island transitioned entirely to renewable energy as a result of a government initiative asking communities to submit plans for self-sufficiency for the chance to win full funding from the Danish Energy Authority.
