what're the everrise empire characters?
The EverRise Empire, more formally known as the Empire of the Ever-Rising Sun, is a collection of loosely unified kingdoms, vaguely based off the Roman Empire. It’s ruled more or less jointly by ruling Clans, each to their own kingdom, and rulership of the entire Empire passes from Clan to Clan as decreed by the contract laid down when they built the kingdom.
That said, the characters I actually focus on are the current ruling family, the Sol Clan, ft a small group of travelers and some members of the Evastence Clan.
The Sols are one of the founding Clans of the EverRise Empire, with the magical gift of being able to control fire. They have sun tattoos denoting them as being part of this Clan, although the tattoos are also the sources of their power; it Binds their magic to creating fire, and restricts it from doing anything else.
Samuel Sol is crown prince, heir to the throne of both his kingdom and the Empire, the oldest of the Sol siblings, and hopelessly head-over-heels in love with Ivy Ackeran, a constantly sick, scroungy young woman raising her sister and currently travelling to scrape up some cash. It is a very unusual match, but it’s worked out fantastically, at least for them. (In the future, the play Sam and Ivy, which can be compared to a non-tragic version of Romeo and Juliet, is one of the most popular romance stories of all time.) Sam is a kind, considerate person with a strong sense of duty and unfailing loyalty. He’s a bit of a pushover with his siblings and Ivy, but he’ll stand his ground unflinchingly when it comes to defending them. He tends to overwork himself to keep things running, but he’ll always make time for family. He’s cis and pan. Ivy is somewhat sardonic, world-weary, and sharp-witted, with a stubborn sense of pride. She ran away from home with her little sister at a young age to escape their abusive father, and ended up being raised by nuns for most of her life. Even poor, always overworked, and cursed to constant sickness by her father’s stupid deals with demons, she wouldn’t let Sam help her with anything until they’d already managed to have a kid. She’s cis and bi.
Adrian Sol is the middle Sol sibling, a trans man who discovered this only after he accidentally made a midsummer midnight wish–a wish guaranteed to be granted–that translated into temporarily transforming his body. Unfortunately, he only came to the realization after he’d succeeded in his quest to get it reversed. He was originally meant to be the titular character in any stories about the EverRise Empire, but after collaborating with a friend and introducing Ivy into the mix, her and Sam ended up being the main focus. Whoops. Adrian is likable, mischievous, and brave, although prone to not thinking things through. He manages to make friends almost everywhere he goes, but when he doesn’t get along with someone he clashes against them bluntly and aggressively. He’s always up for a fight, and he’ll usually win it, too. He’s bi.
Lucero Sol is the youngest of the Sol siblings, and has never really managed to gain any overt plot significance. She’s an easygoing person who likes just about anything that can make her laugh. She likes playing with fire more than she likes people, and doesn’t make friends very easily outside of her family. Despite this, Luce is generally happy, and likes teasing her siblings. She’s low-key nonbinary and ace.
Sara and Daniel Sol are their parents. If either of them are 100% straight I’ll eat my entire ass.
Leah Ackeran is Ivy’s younger sister. Due to another of their father’s stupid deals, she’s lived with a demon renting space in her head all her life, and it’s shaped her into a fairly creepy kid. However, the demon can’t work up the influence to actually control her, so they content themselves with silently antagonizing each other and generally creeping out everyone in the vicinity, with the notably obvious exception of Ivy. Leah is basically the quintessential goth kid. She likes dark clothes, creepy-crawlies, and generally freaking people out, usually with information the demon passes onto her out of boredom and a shared desire to watch the world burn. She hates Sam, mostly because she’s afraid he’s going to somehow make Ivy love her less. (he did get her a dog though. she loves her dog. yes she does. who’s the best puppy in the world, it’s goldie, yes it is.) She’s genderfluid and ace.
Valentine Roseleaf-Ackeran is Ivy’s somewhat-estranged cousin. His father is her father’s twin brother. Seeing as one of them is a massive dick and the other isn’t, an obvious rift formed between them. Their children eventually met each other when Ivy passed through the area, on a quest to get some (seemingly) easy cash for her and Leah. He insisted on tagging along when he found out they were cousins, and then kind of never left. Valen is an upbeat, positive person, a balance to Ivy’s pessimism. He’s naturally charismatic and incredibly cheerful, and has a deep love of nature and animals, except squirrels, which once scratched out his entire eye. He also adopted a baby dragon after it bit off three of his fingers, claiming it was just scared, and the dragon proceeded to adopt him in turn. He’s cis and pan, if I’m remembering correctly.
Jasmine Alesi is Ivy’s best friend, although Ivy definitely had a giant gay crush for a while. She’s a level-headed and intelligent person, with a dry sense of humor. She prefers conservative clothes, and usually covers her face with a veil. Few people have seen her without it. I would really love to tell you more but she isn’t technically mine and I don’t quite know what else to say about her. She’s cis and bi.
The Ackeran-Sol Kids are Addie, Adrian, Valor, Jazz, Lulu, and Serenity. Due to the already daunting length of this post, I’m not going to say more about them unless asked. Again. This took entirely too much time.
A grand total of zero (0) of these characters are white!
(Ivy, Leah, Valen, and Jasmine are technically @the-blue-phantom‘s characters.)
