Samuel Recreation Center dedicates trophy case to Parks & Rec’s Jason DiMartino
On Friday, December 6, Samuel Recreation Center dedicated a new trophy case in honor of the late Jason DiMartino. Jason was a long-time Assistant Recreation Leader with over 25 years with Philadelphia Parks & Recreation. He passed away in February of 2018.
The case was donated by Jason’s wife Catherine M. Curran DiMartino and her fellow teachers from Anne Frank School.
Over 70 people attended the dedication, including many of the youth that Jason coached at Samuel and other recreation centers throughout his career. Jamie Miller, Recreation Leader III at Samuel, said it was a special event. “It was amazing to hear all of the stories about Jason and the trophy case looks great in our lobby!”
District Five Program Manager Tom Dignam noted that “Jason worked at numerous sites including Heitzman, McVeigh, and Samuel. He was a wonderful man and a dedicated PPR employee. I know firsthand as we worked together at Heitzman from 1998 to 2000.”
