I think the writers just wanted to throw in a game changer mid season even though it didn’t play out so well. I hate how they treated the women (and Luke lbr), especially Lily, this season. Yet somehow Joe manages to cheat death all the freaking time
Like wow the women had so much promise this season! We had a woman ring leader of a well-organized family of serial killers, we had a mysterious woman who was the male leader's "number one" his partner and the only one trusted on her own we had Emma ON HER OWN LEADING A GROUP we had Carrie who used her position to learn things and never took no for an answer we had Mandy who was loyal to the extreme we had Claire who would do whatever it takes to protect her son we had Gina who took her job more seriously than anyone and had an interesting and complicated home life we had SO MANY COOL WOMEN THIS SEASON
and the writers just ruined and/or dropped all of them
they dropped a lot of potential and really didn't think a lot of their ideas through and it's so LAME it kills me I mean HOW DO YOU DROP IMPORTANT CHARACTERS FOR FOUR WEEKS AND THEN BRING THEM BACK WITH NO EXPLANATION OF HOW THEY EVEN KNEW LUKE WAS ALIVE HOW
Luke went through so much shit and there wasn't even a pay off he couldn't even win one thing and now Mark is alone no why ugh like i love the characters and the show but man the writers have got to get it together better.
