Rose walked over to Megan, wrapping her arms around her in a hug.

Gemma watched.

Megs hugged Rose tightly.

Rose whispered into Megan's ear, "Thank you."

Gemma sat again.

Megs said softly "You're welcome."

Rose turned to Gemma. "I love you."

Gemma said to Rosalie "I love you too."

Megs slipped out of the door.

Rose pulled Gemma towards her into a kiss.

Gemma wrapped his arms around her, kissing her back.

Rose pressed close to her.

Gemma pulled back, asking softly "When?"

Rose looked at her, swallowing. As soon as possible. Tonight?"

Gemma nodded "Okay."

Rose smiled. "Thank you."

Gemma laced their fingers together "Are you ready now?"

Rose kissed her knuckles. "I am."

Gemma looked in her eyes "I'll have to almost drain you."

Rose took a deep breath. "I trust you."

Gemma nodded and said softly "Then you'll have to drink some of my blood."

Rose nodded, looking into her eyes. "Okay."

Gemma nodded and led Rose over to the bed.

Rose sat down on the bed, looking up at Gemma.

Gemma got a towel, putting it on the bed "Lay down, love."

Rose lay back, her body trembling a bit.

Gemma brushed her hair back "Are you sure?"

Rose nodded, laying her hands across her stomach. "I'm very sure. I'm nervous, but sure."

Gemma leaned in and kissed Rosalie "I love you."

Rose kissed her back. "I love you too."

Gemma pulled away, moving towards her neck.

Rose tilted her head, giving her room.

Gemma slowly sunk her fangs in, holding Rose's hand.

Rose tensed, squeezing her hand.

Gemma drained Rose of her blood, holding her hand as tight as she dared.

Rose went pale, lying still.

Gemma continued until she was almost drained, pulling away and biting her own wrist.

Rose weakly lifted her head to watch.

Gemma held her wrist to Rose's lips "Drink, baby."

Rose tentatively swiped her tongue across, lapping up some of the blood.

Gemma kept her wrist in position.

Rose began to drink her blood, as confidently as she could.

Gemma stroked her hair, saying softly "It's okay."

Rose stopped for a moment. "I..."

Gemma asked softly "What is it?"

Rose took a shaky breath. "Feel faint."

Gemma kissed her forehead "Keep drinking."

Rose nodded, sucking on Gemma's wrist.

Gemma asked "Do you feel the burning yet?"

Rose tensed, mumbling around her wrist, "Mhm..."

Gemma said softly "When you come to, try not to attack me. It will be your first instinct."

Rose whimpered, trying to stay conscious.

Gemma continued feeding Rose the blood.

Rose continued to drink the blood, weakly holding onto her arm.

Gemma moved her hand away when Rose had had enough "See you in a few days."

Rose collapsed back, passing out.

Gemma sat down in her chair.

Rose was on her way home again, keeping a close eye out. She had been running into that one vampire too often for her own peace of mind.

Gemma was lurking in the shadows, lying in wait for her next victim, hoping that she would not run into Rose again.

Rose stopped, thinking she heard something. The next thing she knew, she was being grabbed from behind, and she let out a shriek.

Gemma heard Rose's shriek and frowned, stepping out from her hiding place "Hey, let her go."

Rose struggled in the arms of the other vampire, to no avail as she felt its fangs graze her neck.

Gemma went up to the vampire and grabbed him, dragging him off her with force "I /said/, let her go."

Rose stumbled away, curling up small as the other vampire fought against Gemma's grip.

Gemma started to fight with the vampire, trying to gain purchase on the vampire's head.

Rose covered her eyes, not wanting to watch what was going on.

Gemma ripped off the vampire's head, dragging out a lighter and setting fire to the body.

Rose felt her whole body shake.

Gemma went over to Rose, softly asking "Are you okay?"

Rose shook her head. "No."

Gemma held her arms out "Here. I'll take you home."

Rose glanced to the side. "Not again..."

Gemma picked her up, running, more serious this time.

Rose automatically tucked her head down, clinging to Gemma.

Gemma ran until she reached Rosalie's home.

Rose was shaking in her arms.

Gemma held her close, asking softly "Can I take you in?"

Rose nodded. "You can. You can take me in."

Gemma nodded and took Rose's key, unlocking the door.

Rose clung to her, wondering about her decision to let Gemma in her house.

Gemma looked around "Which one is your bedroom?"

Rose gestured weakly. "Last door on the left."

Gemma carried her into the room, saying softly "I've got you, Rose."

Rose frowned, squeezing her eyes shut. "Bed. Please. I'll be fine."

Gemma set Rose down on the bed, getting on with her "Tough shit, I'm staying here."

Rose sighed, rolling away. "What if I don't want you here?"

Gemma "I promised Megan I'd look after you."

Rose frowned. "You looked after me. I'll be fine."

Gemma smiled "Oh, hush. I'm staying. Besides, the sun will be up soon. I can't leave."

Rose groaned and pulled her blankets up around her. "Suit yourself."

Gemma "Do you want me to burst into a fireball?"

Rose shrugged. "I said fine. I'm going to try and sleep. No funny business."

Gemma laughed "What do you think I'm going to do? Have a nibble?"

Rose went silent, facing away.

Gemma put a hand on her back "Hey, relax. I was kidding."

Rose frowned, staying silent for a few more moments before peeking over her shoulder. "Can you sleep? Or...?"

Gemma nodded "I can. I sleep during the day, though."

Rose nodded slowly, turning over to face Gemma with an almost shy expression. "I've always been... curious... about you... your kind..."

Gemma smiled at Rose "Ask away. I'm an open book."

Rose flushed, glancing away. "Are you always hungry?"

Gemma shook her head "No. Usually just when I wake up."

Rose nodded again. "Okay. Um. Did it hurt?"

Gemma asked "Did what hurt?"

Rose blushed. "When you were... turned..."

Gemma nodded "Like you would not believe."

Rose shuddered. "I can't... wow."

Gemma asked "You can't what?"

Rose bit her lip. "Believe what you went through."

Gemma shrugged "I didn't ask for it, but it happened. All I can do is make the best of it."

Rose nodded slowly. "Well, you seem to be doing alright."

Gemma looked at Rose "But some of the things I see and hear, you can't imagine! I can hear the sound of a bee 50 miles away, a running river 100 miles away, see every fibre of your bed clothes.... It’s amazing." Gemma looked animated as she spoke "200 years and it still excites me."

Rose watched Gemma, her eyes wide. "Wow. That's really cool. That would be pretty amazing to experience."

Gemma "I wish I could show you."

Rose looked away. "Right..."

Gemma looked at her "Hey, calm down. I'm not going to try and change you."

Rose glanced back. "I believe you. Forgive me for having my fears."

Gemma looked at her "I swear."

Rose gave a small smile. "You're different. Like Megan."

Gemma shrugged "I can still feel. A lot of vampires throw away emotions. I held onto mine."

Rose nodded. "That's good. Emotions are very important."

Gemma kept her eyes on Rose, saying softly "They really are."

Rose bit the inside of her cheek. "They make you much more relatable. More... human."

Gemma said softly "I do remember what being human was like, you know."

Rose gazed at her. "Do you miss it?"

Gemma said softly "Sometimes I do. But then I don't. Being 18 in 1813 wasn't so fun. I do miss my husband. Sometimes."

Rose blinked. "Sometimes?" She shook her head. "Sorry. I shouldn't pry."

Gemma "When I was a teenager, a lot of girls weren't lucky enough to marry for love. He was kind, and I cared about him, but I didn't love him. We were only married a few months before this happened."

Rose frowned. "I'm sorry."

Gemma shook her head and laughed softly, wiping away a tear "It was 200 years ago. I should be over it."

Rose shook her head, sitting up. "No, it was significant. It changed your life."

Gemma looked up at her "He thought I'd ran away. So did my parents. I stuck around. Watched them."

Rose "Was that hard?"

Gemma "It got easier."

Rose drummed her fingers on her leg. "Have you ever had feelings for someone else?"

Gemma "It’s common for a vampire to find a mate. But I haven't. I've never met anyone I liked until recently."

Rose nodded. "I see. Cool. I've never had someone."

Gemma looked surprised "Really? I kind of figured you and Megs were involved."

Rose shook her head. "We're really close friends. But not like that."

Gemma nodded "Fair enough."

Rose shrugged. "She's the closest I've ever had, though. Hard to find girls who feel the same way I do."

Gemma looked at her "What do you mean?"

Rose shrugged. "Not many lesbians around here."

Gemma looked at Rose "Then girls are crazy."

Rose looked down. "Sure."

Gemma touched Rose's cheek "Really. You're somethin' special."

Rose bit her lip, looking up at Gemma. "You think so?"

Gemma nodded "I really do."

Rose leaned slightly into Gemma's touch. "It's nice to hear someone say that."

Gemma moved in closer to Rose, her gaze on her face.

Rose met Gemma's eyes, subconsciously leaning closer.

Gemma leaned in even closer.

Rose took a chance and pressed her lips to Gemma's.

Gemma kissed Rosalie back instantly.

Rose pulled out of the kiss, looking down. "S-sorry."

Gemma kissed Rose again.

Rose gasped in surprise.

Gemma broke the kiss "Sorry, sorry."

Rose shook her head. "No... no. Don't be sorry."

Gemma said quietly "When I talked about the person I like, I meant you."

Rose looked down at her lap, silent for a moment.

Gemma stood "I have to go."

Rose nodded, not looking up at her. "Okay."

Gemma cursed "I can't. The sun is up."

Rose looked up. "You can stay if you need to."

Gemma nodded "Please."

Rose gave a small grin. "Of course. I do need to sleep. I work again tonight."

Gemma looked at the little lounge "I can stay in there? If you'd prefer."

Rose shrugged. "Whatever you like."

Gemma "This is your home, Rose."

Rose lay back on her bed. "Could you stay in here, actually? I'd... feel more comfortable."

Gemma sat back down on the bed "Of course I could."

Rose smiled, leaning close to her. "I haven't kissed someone in so long..."

Gemma turned to look at Rosalie "Me neither..."

Rose gave a small grin. "I liked kissing you."

Gemma gave a half smile "I liked it more than I should..."

Rose tentatively asked, "Could we... again...?"

Gemma stroked her cheek, saying softly "I want to, but I'm scared." Gemma laughed suddenly "I just killed a brother to save your life, and yet I'm afraid to kiss you."

Rose blinked, giggling nervously. "Why are you scared?"

Gemma said quietly "Because I've never felt like this before. For anyone."

Rose reached up to brush Gemma's cheek. "Don't be scared," she whispered, her face close to hers.

Gemma kept close to her, whispering "You're human. You're human, and one day you're going to die and leave me here."

Rose frowned. "I... but..." She hung her head.

Gemma closed her eyes "I'm sorry."

Rose kissed Gemma softly. "But we can still feel for each other..."

Gemma kissed Rose gently "I know. And I do. Feel, that is. For you."

Rose brushed her hair back. "And I feel for you."

Gemma "You do understand what I am, don't you?"

Rose glanced sideways. "You're a vampire."

Gemma nodded "We won't be able to have a normal relationship. I can't go out during the day. I can't eat food."

Rose nodded. "I understand. I'm pretty nocturnal, myself , anyway."

Gemma cupped her cheek "I want to try."

Rose nodded, leaning into her touch. "I do too."

Gemma nodded and kissed her lips.

Rose kissed back, her hand on Gemma's cheek.

Gemma wrapped her arms around Rose, kissing her.

Rose melted into the kiss, her eyes closing.

Gemma held the other girl closer as she kissed her.

Rose slid her arms around Gemma's neck.

Gemma put her arms around Rose's waist, making a soft noise into the kiss.

Rose pulled away, catching her breath. "Wow."

Gemma looked at her "You're amazing."

Rose blushed. "I'm not. You are."

Gemma brushed her hair back "Yes you are."

Rose shook her head. "I'm just me."

Gemma "You're my Rose."

Rose looked down to hide her blush.

Gemma kissed her cheek.

Rose gave a small smile. "Lie down with me?"

Gemma lay down slowly "My skin is cold."

Rose shrugged, lying down as well. "I can manage."

Gemma picked up a blanket "I'll tuck this between us."

Rose nodded. "Okay. No nibbles," she tried to joke.

Gemma laughed and tucked the blanket in "Never."

Rose smiled. "Night. I mean morning. I mean... Rest well."

Gemma laughed "Night, Rose. Sleep well."

Rose grinned, closing her eyes and falling asleep quickly.

Gemma fell asleep beside her.

Rose walked down the street, humming absently to herself.

Gemma was stood in the shadows, her eyes flicking about.

Rose shivered as a gust of wind blew past her.

Gemma inhaled her scent and grinned to herself, waiting for the girl to come closer.

Rose glanced around, drawing her jacket tighter around her.

Gemma stepped out when Rose was almost there "Hello."

Rose stopped short, taking in the figure. "Hi..." she said slowly.

Gemma took a step towards her "A little late to be out, isn't it, gorgeous?"

Rose glanced sideways. "I'm trying to get home."

Gemma grinned, a hint of a fang showing when she did "Why don't you join me for a /drink/?"

Rose didn't notice the fang, but bit her lip. "I... really should get home."

Gemma stepped closer to Rose, grinning wider "I shouldn't."

Rose took a step back. "I need to go." She turned around, starting to walk away.

Gemma moved faster than light, so she was in front of Rose, the smile gone "I don't think so."

Rose stopped, holding her breath. "Who are you?"

Gemma bared her teeth, leaning forward "Someone looking for a late night snack."

Rose turned to run away, letting out a loud scream.

Gemma ran after her, grabbing her arm.

Rose tried to pull away. "No! Let me go!"

Gemma pulled Rose closer, inhaling "Mmm."

Rose struggled, screeching out, "Someone help!"

Gemma brushed her lips over Rose's neck before baring her teeth, fangs scratching the surface of her neck, releasing a few drops of blood.

Rose continued to struggle, squeezing her eyes shut. "Don't... please..."

Gemma smirked softly "Oh, but you smell so good."

Rose whined. "No..."

Gemma started to break the skin.

Rose cried out. "Stop!" Help!"

Gemma pulled away when she heard a noise "Who's there?"

Rose stumbled away from her, holding her neck.

Megan stepped out of the shadows, between Gemma and Rose. "What's going on here?"

Gemma held onto Rose as her eyes focussed in the dark "Megs. You interrupted my breakfast."

Rose glanced between the two, her eyes wide. "Megan..."

Megan rolled her eyes. "Your breakfast? Really? Let go of her. It's okay, Rosie. I'll take care of this."

Gemma let go of Rose "You know this human?"

Rose frowned, peering at Megan. "You two know each other?"

Megan shrugged. "Yeah. I know both of you. Shocker."

Gemma raised an eyebrow "Why are you associating with humans? Megs, I'm hungry. Can't I have just a little bite? I won't kill her."

Rose blinked, still scared. "What's she talking about, Meggie? You're not..."

Megan ignored Rose for a moment, speaking to Gemma. "She's special, Gem."

Gemma sighed "Fine, fine. I'll find someone else."

Rose stared wide-eyed at the two.

Megan nodded. "Good choice. Rosie, it's okay. I promised I'd protect you. That's all I'm doing."

Gemma grinned at Rosalie, her fangs showing "In case you hadn't figured it out, we're vampires."

Rose felt her knees go weak. "You... Meggie..." She stared blankly.

Megan groaned. "Well, this wasn't how you were supposed to find out. But I have business to take care of. And I want to see Rose tomorrow. /Alive/ and /unmarked/. Got it?"

Gemma rolled her eyes "I'll escort her home myself. No funny business."

Rose stayed silent, her eyes wide.

Megan nodded. "Better not be. Later." She turned and walked away briskly.

Gemma looked at Rose "Where do you live?"

Rose said carefully, "Close. I can make it alone."

Gemma shook her head "It's not worth angering Megs by not taking you."

Rose frowned. "How do you know her?"

Gemma looked at Rose "She's the head of my coven. Vampire nest. Whatever you want to call it. Can I please just take you home? I'm hungry."

Rose rubbed at her neck. "I can't believe it... I..." She looked up at Gemma. "Fine."

Gemma grinned and asked "So, which way?"

Rose sighed and pointed. "That way. Around the corner and a couple of blocks."

Gemma nodded and picked up Rosalie, running fast.

Rose squeaked, clinging to Gemma.

Gemma laughed joyously as she ran.

Rose kept her head tucked down, her body tensing.

Gemma soon arrived outside Rosalie's place "Here?"

Rose nodded, breathing heavily. "Yes. Here. Th-thank you."

Gemma "I can't take you inside unless you invite me in."

Rose blinked. "Oh. Oh, right. Um. I... I think I'm fine from here, actually."

Gemma set her down, shrugging "Suit yourself."

Rose started to walk backwards, away from Gemma. "Thank you."

Gemma winked "No problem."

Rose frowned, turning and walking into the building.
