Was talking about sandbox design in a ttrpg server, and though this is a bit tongue-in-cheek, I think these really are good things to consider when you approach sandbox design in a ttrpg (and elsewhere!)

I’m working on a project for @weareassassin, @i-am-mesmerist and related blogs. Ladles and fancy spoons I present the Duchy of Fon Choille.

I’m going to be using ACK (Adventurer, Conqueror, King), an OSR variant of B/X D&D with proper domain level stuff, for designing the duchy and it’s counties, settlements, economy and other things. It’s 6-mile hexes for that reason

I’m also looking at doing a 1-mile hex child map but given that’s over 14k hexes it might be a while. But at 6 miles hexes the map above is going to get crowded soon.

Some people might notice some puns in the place names that suggest that the terrain of Fon Choille is based upon a real place.
