The movie had its World Film Festival Premiere at Indo-German Film-week-Berlin in July 2019. Excerpts of the interview: moGossip.com: Share some light on the key plank of your movie Nirmal Anand Ki Puppy … the trailer of which has been released? Director Sandeep Mohan: What happens to a seemingly happy family after the disappearance of their loving pet – I wanted to explore this theme through my film. moGossip.com: How you chanced upon this concept and why a movie? Director Sandeep Mohan: I have been observing the dependency on Pets in many urban households across the world, and now in India too. Many Urban families have their life revolving around their Pets and I wanted to understand how these families will cope if you take that Pet out of the equation.... wanted to explore this and hence wrote this film. moGossip.com: On the Cast and any message that you have via the movie.... for the viewers? Director Sandeep Mohan: The film has Karanveer Khullar, Gillian Pinto, Khushboo, Salmin Sheriff and Vipin Heero apart from a host of other lovely actors in the cast. Nirmal Anand Ki Puppy is a light-hearted engaging dramedy, which should appeal to an audience who like their films a little sensible. It revolves around an urban middle-class family in Mumbai who find it hard to get their life back on track after the disappearance of their beloved pet from their life. Without the soothing balm of their puppy in their busy and mundane city life, minor irritants that were hitherto ignored in their relationship begin to act up, threatening the very foundation of their marriage. moGossip.com: Any specific incident that you wish to share with the viewers ? Director Sandeep Mohan: I have a Pet dog Hermione who I have credited as the co-writer of this script along with me. Possibly the only Human-Dog script-writing combo. We got the Best Script Award at the Washington DC South Asian Film Festival (DCSAFF) for this film. I used to talk to Hermione during the process of writing this film and figured out a way to bounce across ideas and themes with her. Though it might sound crazy, the fact is that she did help me a lot in getting clarity while writing - the reason why I have given her the credit in the film as my Co-Writer:) The movie, Nirmal Anand Ki Puppy and subject, surely needs to be thought about in the hustle bustle of our daily life. Shot over a period of 21 days, we hope the movie turns out to be a heartwarming experience for audiences, too!
