Deep blue eyes glowered over the cowering group of researchers, “Remind me again what it is that I pay you for?”
He made an unconcerned glance at the young researcher crumpled up on the floor, clutching his now crimson-dyed arm as two other researchers attempted to assist him.
Pathetic.
“Professor Ein, this one is out of hand.” Kotan pointed at the rabid Mightyena backed into the corner. “It’s in hyper mode as you requested, but it’s not taking orders. And as you can see…” the greying-brown haired gentleman pointed at their fallen colleague, “I’m certain Myron’s going to n-”“Must I do everything myself?” Ein huffed, shoving his second-in-command to the side.“Ein! Wait!” Kotan called out, panic in his voice, but his master would not have any of it. He was going to show these bumbling oafs how it was done.
The rest of the researchers watched anxiously as the head scientist approached the aggressive pokemon. “Alright, you…” he stood directly in front of the Mightyena.
The researchers heard a sickening crunch the moment Ein moved his arms to direct orders.
“Professor!” Kotan made a dash towards the head scientist, but was immediately stopped when Ein held his other arm up, signaling him to stop.
While the kevlar in his sleeves saved him from the Pokemons fangs sinking into his skin, it did not save him from the pressure of the Mightyena crushing its jaws onto the Cipher Admins forearm. A sharp stinging sensation shot through his arm, but the young scientist hardly flinched. His eyes seared to the Pokemons.
“…Unhand me.” A low growl came from Eins throat. The Mightyena growled right back, pulling on the mans arm, tearing through the exterior of his jacket. “Mightyena! Unhand me!” Ein barked sternly, and for a moment, the Pokemon released its grip from his arm, but not in the intentions to obey. Crazed eyes were locked on to the scientists face as the Mightyena lunged at Ein, barely giving the man enough time to slam his other arm into the beasts throat– a little harder than he cared to admit.
In an instant the Pokemon collapsed to the ground. Ein gazed callously as the Mightyena wheezed painfully, spitting up blood as it struggled violently to get itself back up. Concerned researchers chattered among themselves as the Pokemon began to struggle less and less with its breathing becoming more and more labored. Ein shook his head before placing one hand under the Pokemons chin and the other at the base of it’s skull.
Kotan felt his stomach twist the moment he heard the crunching sound of a broken neck followed by the Mightyena collapsing to the floor, no longer struggling, no longer breathing…
“…Waste of resources. A damn shame.” Ein exhaled, nudging the deceased shadow Pokemon with his foot. He glanced back at the observing researchers, his voice snapped, “Well?! Get back to work!” He watched as the researchers scrambled to their positions, save for Kotan, “This project will be repeated, and I will not accept failure this time around.” He brushed up the torn sleeve of his jacket, unphased by the burning sensation, “Unless it is that you prefer I house the lot of you in with the shadow pokemon.”
“N-no sir.” Kotan swallowed.“Then in that case you know what to do.”Not another word spoken, Ein shoved his shaken second-in-command out of his way, making his way back into his personal lab space.
Kotan wasn’t entirely sure what he was more frightened by: Possibly facing the same situation again tomorrow, or that the fact that Ein kept that blank static expression throughout that whole ordeal.
