Ok, I’ll tell you my secrets... (click the flower for a sloppy example)

I don’t know how long this will be on everyone’s blog so details after the cut HAVE FUN CREATING!!

{I do all my transparent artwork in Photoshop:}

New document

Add three new layers 

Color

Invisible

Solid black (use the bucket tool to fill the layer with solid black. I do this so I can see how the ‘invisible layer’ will look after it’s clicked on Tumblr)

Delete the white background layer

right click

New layer from background

delete! (now the other layers are transparent, EXCEPT solid black, which you’ll delete later)

Click the eye icon next to the solid black layer to make it invisible for now...

Now doodle in color in the first layer! Be sure to leave ‘blank space’!! Blank space will appear white then turn black when clicked and will reveal your invisible art!

click the box that had the eye icon to make the solid black layer come back. (I do this to see the ‘invisible art’ better while drawing.)

Doodle on the ‘invisible layer’ with anything white! (I usually put this layer below the colored one, so there’s no weird lines in the visible drawings before the image is clicked)

All done? DELETE / MAKE INVISIBLE THE SOLID BLACK LAYER

[If you did this correctly, Little boxes should be the background of your image]

Save time!

File -> Save for Web

PNG (it’s better resolution)

Make sure the transparency box is checked

SAVE!

Upload! The image should only have the colored layer visible, but once you click on it, BOOM!! The white lines become visible!

tips:

Save your image as a draft and test it out before posting. Click on it to make sure it’s the way you like it!
