I missed this the other day. Sandy Nelson, the best-known drummer of the 50s and 60s, died on Feb 14. Back in the day, instrumentals were a thing and Sandy led the pack with drums and guitar-driven AM radio staples, including “Drums Are My Beat”.
I didn’t know he was also a member of the novelty band Hollywood Argyles.
