Catie O’Leary and Vanessa Woods at Jack Fischer Gallery's Minnesota Street Projects in San Francisco, California, 18 February to 1 April 2017. O’Leary and Woods combine disparate elements to create new associations that defy rational comprehension. Using original paper ephemera and found material, both artists reconfigure their source material to generate new narratives that explore identity, the body, Surrealism, and the subconscious. The show highlights collage work by each artist, as well selections from their 6-year mail art exchange and other collaborative works. MORE

David King at IS Fine Art & Design in San Francisco, California through 6 April 2017. King presents two consecutive shows featuring his earlier collage and drawing and newer, as-yet-unexhibited work. In Kolaj #3, Cory Peeke interviewed King. He said, "Over the years, though, my work has shifted to the abstract, which cleared away any specific narrative and left room for a viewer’s personal interpretation of the image, which I felt was important when trying to express more complex ideas about spirituality." This collaborative exhibit features works based on social, stereotypical, and gender propaganda.
