A Paramount Picture in 3-Dimension!
Sangaree (1953).
Tonight’s libation is an 18th century cocktail called a Sangaree
3 oz of Cognac
1 oz of Ruby port
1 oz orange juice
1/4 oz of simple syrup or a sugar cube if you want to be historically correct
Shaken over ice cut from a lake last winter and stored under a blanket of sawdust.
Garnish with mint from the garden and a twist of orange peel.
Think of revolution and that cute wench across the stone fence.
See it Soon and With Glasses!
Found on the coming attraction for Sangaree (1953), the first of Paramount Pictures' string of 3D releases.
Stout sangaree, hentet fra The Downton Abbey Cocktail Book (2019). «Perfect for enjoying near the fireplace at the pub», står det. Fireplace? If you suddenly find yourself living upstairs, replace the ruby port with tawny port, which is aged longer, so it oxidizes slightly and has a deeper, more complex flavour.» Olala.

Once again, Monday’s recipe post centers around old-timey medicinal advice. What’s different about this week’s post is that I actually can endorse this one: Sangaree is not for infants.
In 1830 The Journal of Health urges people to stop giving Sangaree to infants.
Fill tumbler 2/3 with ice, shake well, and strain into a glass without ice. Grate nutmeg over top.
