❝ do you like it here? ❞
getting to know
The question startles the man, causing him to fumble with his potted plant. Catching it and cradling careful enough, he brings a smile to Louis. A nod with that mop of black hair. What a lovely sight for a dreary evening, "I do. Actually, thank you for sharing it with me. I'm even more at ease having you here - if that's alright, of course."
Ever the same, Antoine. Changing environments and still testing the waters of others comfort before his own. Only then could a vampire of his type truly begin to relax and continue about decorating his space. Briskly, he tilts his head to a box, "House warming gifts for you, by the way. You can take your pick. Very easy to care for. No mortal needed." Louis wasn't the forgetful type, he hoped.
@sangcreole sent : so what do we do with our lives?
It was a great show of trust that Louis let her come to him in his sadness -- the tides of his moods ever so changing, currently in a great low. Sybelle was prone to melancholy, too. Perhaps they'd simply seen it in each other over the years.
Still, she'd always been the child, the daughter, the young one who was still learning and finding her footing in eternity. A newborn compared to Louis, to Armand even more so. She hadn't even reached an age beyond humanity, yet, a mere five decades to her lifetime. For Louis to ask her that, the question she supposed they all asked themselves after decades or centuries and to trust her judgement ; it felt significant.
Sybelle did not want to break this trust, nor did she want to disappoint. There was no right answer to this, however, and she struggled as always to translate her feelings into words, plus his emotions were bleeding into her mind and making her feel like crying.
She pulled Louis to her ever so softly and felt like she was cradling a wounded bird. Sybelle wondered if that was how Armand felt with her, sometimes. Humming, she stroked his hair gently.
"We pick ourselves back up," she said slowly. "We find a passion that makes life happier, my piano, Benji's movies, your books... Above all we love each other always. And we go on together."
Perhaps she was young ; but humanity had brought her her share of heartbreak. "Armand often tells me that the bad times always end, Louis. And I'm here, and Benji is here, and Armand, and Lestat... We're not leaving you behind."

would it always be like this between them , the back and forth of something that no longer felt like a relationship ? he missed his louis , the one that would climb into his coffin while the sun rose and held him. he missed the moments of peace and happiness , where it was simply. lestat and louis. no one else.
" and now i'm the stupid one le regretter." the blond could feel the build up of blood in the corner of his eyes. a step closer like a cat cautious to approach, heckles rising if they could. " je sais que je suis le stupide " he's reaching out slowly , the traces of fingertips against the fabric of louis' clothes. wishing it was easier to just grab him and hold him.
