An overview of key events in Sangrid’s story thus far.
Insidious Hand
Plagued by a member of a Void cult, Sangrid and her beloved, Echo Lotus fought to neutralize them. Alas, perhaps they were far too focused on the hunt that they fell into the snares of foul magics and illness....
The Bear and Cub
Aggressive investigations into the threats she received and later shared with a Twin Adder Lieutenant, Avoux Jifame inadvertently led to his death. Sangrid’s guilt and her promise to keep his daughter safe, in addition to discovering the girl’s mother wanted to sell her to the slavers led her to adopt the 6 summers old child, Ildanne Jifame. Sangrid gladly shares the frightening burden of raising a daughter with her beloved, Echo Lotus. The Heart’s Folly
Brought to light that she yet lives, and presented with evidence of her confession acquired by the Dzemael lordling, she was branded a war criminal. A bounty was issued for her capture or death.
On the run once more, her prosecution endangered Aren’s free company and eventually strained their bond.
Sangrid was convinced for their future to have a chance, she must first put the past to rest. It decided her surrender to Ishgardian authorities. She was incarcerated for months before her trial, subjected to the wrath of her righteous captors. Her death sentence was only withdrawn when an elder dragon threatened Ishgard’s newly forged peace with Dravania. Sangrid was thus bound to serve Ishgard for a lifetime as an outrider.
Aimless from heartbreak, the collared hound tested its leash for thrills and reveled in the danger of her duties.
The Dragon’s Eye
Sangrid was embroiled in the conflict between Ishgard and a vengeful, ancient dragon, Valrav. In her efforts to uphold her personal vows, she drew too much attention to herself when deflecting the two forces from each other. She had little choice but to leave them to their conflict while she laid low and sought refuge in a Free Company under the guise of an adventurer. Sangrid was quickly enamored by the Commander, Aren Tensard, for his genuine care towards those under his employ and his bashful nature.
Valrav’s rage was corrupting. Sangrid found herself struggling against the dragon’s influence from consuming her humanity. Heedless of her hesitance of accepting aid for fear of their safety, Aren and a Doman lord, Yahata Ryuga followed her up the mountains of Dravania to quell the dragon’s rage. With the aid of a magical scroll, they succeeded. But consumed by blood lust, Lord Ryuga swung a fatal blow to the unguarded dragon’s skull. Sangrid intercepted and took an axe’s cleave in the chest.
While her life was slipping away, a Dzemael lordling and his men ambushed the weakened group, attempting to kill them all in the name of justice. With the dragon’s aid, they managed to force the lordling to retreat, though not without the promise of retribution.
A life for a life. Sangrid was plucked from death by Valrav’s grace.
