headcanon : sanguinius x mercy

there’s a wild look in his eyes, one angela had never seen before. his radiance replaced by a pyre of rage so volatile and unlike him. she reached out to the angel, the tips of her fingers touching blood stained ceramite.

“are you wounded?” no response. her pulse leapt in her throat.

“sanguinius?” she pressed him, omitting formalities with a hopefulness it might snap him out of his trance. she hesitates, drawing her hand away from his breastplate. in a flash of movement, he's caught her wrist in his massive hand.

headcanon : sanguinius x mercy

does angela fight and does she fight alongside sanguinius?

he prefers that she doesn’t and strongly advises her against it. angela spends most of her time tending to the wounded and setting up infirmaries after compliance. she often works in tandem with the legion's apothecaries. however, when she does take to the field …

✧ studying sanguinius in flight allowed angela to make enhancements to her valkyrie suit, making it easier for her to weave her way through the sky and keep up continuous flight. she, unlike sanguinius, has to take extra time to calibrate her wings prior to landing on a new planet to ensure her own safety while flying.

✧ in combat, she avoids flying to sanguinius with her guardian angel ability, she can’t keep up with his speed. she might be able to fly on her own, but using her guardian angel ability & gliding to her companions allows her to reserve resources and stamina. it also gives her a burst of speed to escape tricky situations. sanguinius being her number one tricky situation.

✧ she is well education on company formations, this allows her to more easily flit from group to group to offer medical aid. a select number of blood angels have identifiers that allow her to more easily seek them out, her beacons to fly to, without throwing off the legion’s combat rhythm. they have been trained to to be mindful of angela and fight without hitting her when she flies to them. a rogue swing from an astartes could easily kill her.

✧ sanguinius is usually in the thick of battle and it is unsafe for her to be near him. that doesn’t stop him from seeking her out and snatching her out of the air like a bird of prey; a bit of flirtatious play on his part. when he’s feeling especially mischievous, he’ll steal a kiss before releasing her to continue her duties.

angela has been accidentally knocked out of the sky by sanguinius’ powerful wings, be it a burst of air or the smack of his feathers. thankfully, he’s nimble and able to catch her whenever she’s unable to right herself. he makes sure to spoil her with his affections afterwards; shiny gifts and one too many kisses to count.
