migi and dali ended. unarguably one of the weirdest shows I've watched in a while, and I absolutely fucking loved it. It's crazy how they were able to squeeze in so much shit in 13 episodes and still pace it perfectly. It's sad to see it end, but I'm happy with the conclusion.

- he only reads stories and copies essay typa answers at exam from aki-chan; bird man simply cannot resist his cries of help

- youko-chan decided she would take matters in her own pale, plump hands

- she likes to teach him equations and algebra, preferably on days dali is off duty, and they go kite flying afterwards

- unfortunately, math and geography is all she knows, other subjects migi studies on his own

- dali puts cockroach on his desk if he EVER falls asleep

- it has worked effectively so far, except for the times migi REMEMBERS to jam lock the windows and doors to his room

dali

- his brother and him, both wanted to grow out there hair, but only one could, not for genetic reason coz they both got fabulous golden hair, but you see they let a coin decide

- tails is dali, heads is migi

- flipped by eiji, a total unbiased figure in saturine

- dali OF COURSE put a fake coin in

- eiji noticed it much afterwards, by then dali's hair reached past his chest length

- dali has an internet friend called vanilla guy underscore sixty nine, that guy is yandere for kawaii girls... aki's sister and her doppelgangers

- he has tried ALL the wigs of sonoyamas, only out of CURIOSITY, not because he was looking for a part of sali-chan

- he's a huge fan of j.d. salinger's

- eiji puts two and two together when he discovers he's not the solo admirer of holden caufield.. dali also cherishes him, often getting lost in the novel, sat in the eggshell chair with feet up, highlighting phony lines

- akiyoshi felt so outta place when they had an EXTREMELY LIGHT, FLUFFY discussion on holden as an indifferent protagonist

- eiji lost a pendant once and blamed it on a dog

karen

- karen thrifts books, clothes, shoes, just to upset reiko.. WORKS EVERY TIME

- she has tried chloroform a few times, just to get reiko off her case.. until her beaver boyfriend showed her how to do it the right way, winkies

- karen owns a small cactus in her room, given by her foster father, and she fears eiji will probably demand one too, and she does NOT want that, coz she's kinda the princess of the fam

- no matter how down she is, amusement park dates ALWAYS lifts her spirits, reiko once even got her cotton candy maker... later, she confiscated it for MISBEHAVIOUR

akiyoshi

- he knows IN THE BOTTOM OF HIS HEART that sali resembles his sister, which is why he often ACCIDENTALLY locks her in on his house dates with sonoyama twins

- he cried SO MUCH when dali presented him a bird encyclopaedia, best nineteenth birthday ever!!!! he commented, with fat tears smudging his specs

- he's a possessive friend, always sat beside migi. exam seating arrangements are a bit of a pickle

- aki has a whole refrigerator for extra smooth cheesecakes, the best friend maker in the world

reiko

- there's a good chance she stole her current husband from somebody else, probably where the quick swap idea stems from, and why her husband couldn't recognise it

- he did actually, he's relieved as f that the fate has given him ANOTHER swap

- reiko is sadly allergic to collagen products... or else

- reiko once dated a paediatrician... it was quite the experience, gave her lots of ideas

- reiko blew her savings, last spring, on her many escapades

Anime Talk - In Memory of Nami Sano

As we are nearing the end of the year, I would like to bring attention to one manga artist who is no longer in this world. I write this with the intention of paying her my respects. Anything that may seem offensive have no such intention behind it.

Nami Sano was born on April 17. 1987 and died August 5. 2023. She was 36 years old and passed from cancer. She left behind many works, two of which have been animated. The first one was Sakamoto Desu ga? (Haven't You Heard, I'm Sakamoto) which was animated in 2016. The other is Migi to Dali (Migi and Dali), which was animated in 2023, the last episode airing December 25. 2023.

I have watched both these anime and want to talk a little bit about both of them. I want to start with Sakamoto Desu ga?.

The story is about a cool high school student named Sakamoto. He transfers to one school and solves problems in the coolest way possible, making friends and enemies along the way. I didn't watch the series as it aired, but it's still been a while. I do remember enjoying it a lot. It is seinen and mainly a comedy series. I can't describe it very well, so I encourage you to watch it, or at least check it out on MAL. I gave it a 7/10 ranking. This is also called "good". I will admit, comedy is not what makes me rank a series highly. My favorite part about the series is probably the titular character, Sakamoto and all the character dynamics he is part of.

As for Migi to Dali, I have quite a lot to say. I had seen the series as part of the line-up of the Fall season 2023 and was considering to watch it. I originally decided against it because I simply had too much to watch on the airdate, Monday. Yet, after another student from my university recommended it to me and mentioned that the author had passed, I decided I should at least watch the first episode and see if I liked it. I definitely did. I couldn't look away. A middle-aged couple named the Sonoyamas, living in Origon village, decide to adopt one child, just one. They find the perfect son, a 13-year-old boy named Hitori. However, there is something the couple do not realize. Hitori is not Hitori. Hitori is two 13-year-old twin boys named Migi and Dali, who both play the role of Hitori. They often swap places and pull off little tricks to make sure that no one will ever catch onto this.

I will say no more on the story. As it is a comedy, mystery and suspense story, I would hate to ruin all the fun. The final episode is great and I ended up giving it a 9/10 score (great) on MAL. If you enjoy mysteries like I do, then I can't recommend this series enough. You can check it out on MAL if you feel like it.

Knowing that this is Sano-sensei's last completed work, you would suspect it ended around the time of her death, but this is not the case. Apparently the manga finished in November 2021, long before she was diagnosed. According to Wikipedia, she was also working on a new project around the time of her death, which further proves that Migi to Dali ended as she intended.

While it is possible to tell that the author is the same through the art style, the stories of Sakamoto Desu ga? and Migi to Dali are so different it is hard to believe they are written by the same author.

What I can conclude is that Nami Sano had a creative mind with many ideas for gimics and interesting stories. It is sad that the world has lost such a great, creative mind this year. My heart goes out to her loved ones, and I hope that none of them are left alone at this difficult time.

Just watched the end of Migi and Dali, the animation studio is so sweet for doing this ugh. this last episode was pretty emotional and satisfying, if I weren’t at work I would’ve cried
