The man who has been cursed (and blessed) by the internet! 🎺
again, if you’ve converted the model to a program and you have or havent contacted me about it, I’m really happy about that!
If you’ve placed rules on the model, or asked for credit, or put a password on it, I hope it was for respectful reasons. I can understand that! I just ask that you don’t! And if you do want to go ahead and do any of the above for any particular, it would be nice if you could contact me about it instead of assuming that as the port creator you have the authority to do that. Respect artists yo!
I wish I could just private message you about this but I guess I can't do that. Anyway, I feel like I should tell you this since it's your content. Lots of people are converting your Sans model and adding rules like "don't edit" and such, while your original .txt file states that users can edit the model. I think they have no right to do that since it's your content and all they did was just convert him. Some even giving the model a password and even asking people to credit them when using it...
That is super duper frustrating.
My opinions on people editing have changed a little bit, since I realised that there are people on here who like to use peoples work for their own agendas and not just for fun. I’ve had a couple of people edit him to fit their vision of Sans which is super cool and I’m glad that people think he’s a good enough model to do that with! Believing that people would only ever intend to do that was a bit naive on my part I’ve since learnt. As of writing this reply the model is actually not publicly available. If somebody is interested in downloading and using the model, they currently have to go through me to obtain the download link. That really really sucks and is really disappointing that I was concerned enough about this that I had to put up such a harsh restriction to protect myself, even if it was an overreaction. I’ll probably have him be available for everyone to download soon.
What REALLY gets my goat is when people assign rules to the model themselves. The model…. is not yours. The model is mine. My rules and terms of service apply whether or not you created a port. YOU don’t get to decide how people use the model, I do. People asking for credit for a port of all things is cheap and cheeky. I understand that ports can be very tricky (I actually paid someone to help me port Sans to SFM and help me understand the process) but it is, in the end, just a port. The content and the artwork and the work is 100% mine, and the model is 100% mine. You wouldn’t upload tumblr fanart to imgur and demand people credit you for the upload.
I had somebody port the SFM version of the model into Gmod, which was great, I was hoping somebody would, but the port had errors which reflects badly on the model and my skills as a professional 3d artist which is a little frustrating particularly because people never read and believe problems with the mesh are associated with me. I wouldn’t mind normally, but since the model is very popular on Steam and a lot of people were waiting for the Gmod version, its…. a little disappointing. Not only that, the person who did the port decided that they would put a warning on the download page saying those who downloaded the model were not allowed to use it for ‘cringy or nsfw content.’
Who decides what content is ‘cringy?’ Who decides what content is ‘nsfw’? I released the model publicly because I wanted to contribute something cool and interactive to the fandom, so people could have fun with it in the ways they wanted. If you want to do wacky dumb animations, I’m more than happy about that. If you want to do nsfw animations (as much as you can with a clothed character anyway) I really do not care, at all. Again I’m the one who joked about making ghost dick accessories for the model. If you create a port, you are the middle man and don’t have any authority over the model, especially when it comes to creating arbitrary dumb rules.
Like, forcing people to have a password to download the port or edit??? What???? I can understand if people are offering a password-locked converted model for an art program as an attempt to respect my wishes about it not being used for non-Undertale respectful content, but if not......
If anybody knows of someone who’s making up their own rule for the use of the model, or blocking people from accessing it with passwords, or demanding credit for use, or refusing to credit me as the original artist, it would be cool if you could shoot me a message so I can contact them in person and hash it out. I’m not sure why you weren’t able to send me a pm, that’s really odd, I’ll look into that!
Just in case anybody gets the wrong idea: I’m totally happy for you to port the model to your program of choice!
I work in 3ds Max and don’t use other 3d programs out there so obviously I’m not going to have the knowledge on how to convert it for all these wacky programs. It’s really nice when people ask me permission for doing a port, since sometimes I can help out with it, or direct somebody to somebody else who’s already making a port for the same program so things dont conflict. If you don’t ask for permission, that’s fine too, it’s not the law that you have to do it.
BUT PLEASE RESPECT MY DECISIONS AND RULES FOR THE MODEL, AS THE ORIGINAL ARTIST AND CONTENT CREATOR!
Don’t make up your own rules for people using your port, asking credit for a port but not asking credit for me is pretty shitty and tacky, if the port is for a 3d art program they can edit it respectfully all they want, and don’t gate off the port with passwords!
I want to be able to make more Undertale models and release them knowing that the content will be respected by the community, yknow. Please don’t prove me wrong!
PSA about the Sans model; if you see it going around defaced for personal agenda, I had no part in it. If you want to download the 3d package, send me a chat message!
Apparently I made some people mad because I wasn’t angry about something. There’s been some whisperings going around that they wanted to use my publicly available Sans model to spite me.
If you see a Sans render being circulated with retextures to fit a specific agenda, please be aware that this was not by my choice. I did not agree, ever, for my Sans model to be used in anything personal besides for specific Undertale animation related use. In fact it was written in my terms of use for the model.
Because of that, the model is now removed for public use. If you want to download the 3d model package, shoot me a tumblr chat message and I’ll send it your way!
Hopefully I’m being overcautious! It sucks that I have to make a post to protect myself like this. But I don’t want to be involved in any big drama scene, especially not when my professional 3d artwork is concerned. All I want to do is continue making neat 3d art of a variety of subjects, from Undertale to my own personal projects.
So uh I wanted to test out how my Gasterblasters were looking next to my Sans model and then got.... really carried away......
All 3d! with just a bunchload of photoshopping!
Started work on these bad boys!
Sans model update incoming! Including SFM expression flexes, misc updates and 3d file face Morphs
My Sans model will be getting an update soon. The update will include some SFM facial flexes for a variety of expressions, the same expressions for the 3d program zip package and a couple of small misc tweaks.
Should be uploading/updating everything within the next few days! If you were planning on converting the model to another program consider holding off from doing it if you want to wait for the update.
Sans model updated with new .blend file!
So it seemed that people were having trouble importing the Sans .fbx file for whatever reason. Somebody has kindly created a .blend file for me of the model which should work!
Unfortunately I have absolutely no idea how to work Blender, so I hope everything in the file is working correctly! Because of this I can’t say with 100% certainty that the file is Blender-newbie friendly, so if you have no experience using 3d programs I would suggest using the SFM model alongside SFM.
If you redownload the Sans model pack you’ll get the new blender file in it.
