Almost had to open the sunroof 😂
The nice thing about my landscaping job is that sometimes I get to take home discarded plants.
The shitty thing about my job is that sometimes I have to mass murder huge numbers of perfectly healthy plants because some rich demon thinks that they’re disposable.
We have these older clients that have a patio backyard with lots and lots of pots. In the Spring we take the pots out of the garage, set them in place, fill them with soil, and put tropical houseplant arrangements in them.
In the Fall we rip out the large, lush plants, empty the pots, wash them, and store them in their garage.
The plants are thrown onto a huge tarp and tossed into a dumpster. Birds of Paradise. Calatheas. Rubber plants. Huge palms. Spider plants. Begonias. They filled half a dumpster. So much labor - years’ worth - went into the raising of these mature plants but to these trashbag boomers they were just disposable ornamentation.
I don’t have room for more houseplants but the whole ordeal made me so sick so I saved this sansiveria and crammed it in next to my monstera. My coworker saved a prayer plant.
Working in hort is emotionally taxing.
Tragedy struck whist watering tonight—I accidentally broke the Doctor’s longest trailing vine off on the edge of the sink 😭 I’m going to try to propogate it, though! I’m also a little concerned about the brown spots popping up on Donna—more in the past two weeks than I’ve noticed yet. If anyone’s versed in snake plants I’d love advice on how to prevent or at least curtail this!
Soaking up the sun ☀️
some of my babies✨🌱
I went to a local nursery and picked up a huge Sayuri Sans.
Happy early birthday to me 😭😭
