the purr of emery's voice startled trinity, her head launching up from her place on the pillow. a string of drool dripped from her lip, and emery watched it fall, as grey bloomed on white. the only response trinity could manage was a pathetic whimper followed by an even more sad arch of her back. or at least an attempt at one.

emery stepped closer to the bed, dragging her hand across the sheets.

again, nothing more than a whimper elicited from trinity.
