OK, but imagine Raphael's face when he finds out that Simon a) has a band and b) can sing (also, I laughed out loud when he and Maureen sang Forever young - I don't think Raphael would laugh out loud but I think he'd snicker) - speaking of which, I really need Raphael grinning or being genuinely happy in my life, oh my god (sorry, I'm starting to ramble here, but I literally thought of that while writing, this was supposed to be a headcanon-y thing for singing Simon but I prefer smiling Raphael
raphael is totally a music nerd
and he may or may not have a thing for people playing instruments
the first time simon mentions his band during one of his rants, raphael freezes for a moment and files the information away (along with all the other things he’s learnt about the other)
raphael spends way too much time after that thinking about simon and his stupid band
the first time he hears simon playing, raphael feels his undead heart skip a beat
the sound is quiet, distant across the mostly empty hotel, and raphael follows it in a trance until he reaches simon’s room
the other doesn’t notice him standing in the doorway until he finishes, the last note ringing out through the air as their eyes lock
he expects simon to be embarrassed, but he doesn’t know what to do when he sees how sad the other looks
he listens this time as the other talks about his band (his humanity)
when simon smiles as he asks him to play something, raphael decides then and there that he wants to keep that smile there
what he doesn’t know is that he’s smiling too
simon notices, but he doesn’t want to point it out in case the other stops
(because he looks beautiful)
simon decides then and there that he wants to see that smile more often, he wants to see it everyday
from that day on, the hotel is always filled with music
