UNICODE SKULL - "THE FUZZ" IS HERE NOW FOR FREE!
It's finally done! Here's "THE FUZZ", the UNICODE SKULL release I promised like three fucking months ago. I spent ages trying to get this to sound half-way decent, and though it's not perfect it's still a far cry away from how these tracks originally sounded. It's been interesting working on one project for so long, rewarding as an experience, but ultimately so tiring that I'm just really, REALLY sick of working on these songs now. I'm ready to start mixing the next Sound Light System release (it's alot of stuff that's already on my soundcloud and a few vocal tracks I've yet to release) and I'm having alot of fun playing NIOH and Shadow Warrior 2, just in general taking it easy and enjoying the summer. This release was a lot of fun writing and thinking about initially - the concept generally being that this release serves as the soundtrack for an Italian low budget, post-apocalyptic movie that was never actually made - kind of a London After Midnight, if you imagine somehow only the music written for the film survived and everything else remained lost. I grew up glorifying the cheap, sleazy guts and gratuity of video games and slasher movies. There was a frankness to me about these things, for no matter how alienating or horrific a VHS cover would initially seem, or how lewd or disgusting it's content, there seemed to be a gonzo attitude to how they made a lot of those 42nd street movies. Some would call it shlock and some would call it simply bad - a misshapen product of the home movie revolution - but to me it had an aspect of the Grand Guignol to it: the efforts of its performers to entertain it's audience with buckets of blood rather than an well-conceived story. I guess with my music I tried to mimic that, getting to the bloody bits as fast as I could and keeping an even tempo without worrying about if the material transcended what I set out to achieve, but rather finding it sufficiently functional as the soundtrack of some long lost movie about leather clad, dust covered scavengers toughing it out in an increasingly desolate and lonely world.
I hope you enjoy the music I wrote for you beautiful people and I love you all even if nobody fucks with it.
