Okay for your ask game!! How about Sapphira and Elam (obviously 😂) and... took me forever to come up with an au but what about coffee shop au! For fun and profit 😂
BRILLIANT plan I love it!!
The sound of the bell ringing above the door to Ruth’s Cafe always made Elam smile. The small cafe, famous for its delicious honey cakes and well brewed coffee, was one of his favorite places in the world.
As he and Gabriel stepped inside, Elam’s gaze swept across the interior. Brightly painted walls, comfortable armchairs and tables filled with chattering college students or couples holding hands. He spotted a few familiar faces—Billy, Walter, and Bonnie were sitting at a table together, Walter gesturing wildly with a chocolate croissant, Billy leaning over to say something to Bonnie, who laughed.
And then his gaze landed on the young woman standing behind the cash register, and his heart fluttered.
There were many reasons he loved Ruth’s Cafe. But Sapphira was the main one.
He’d known she was special since the first moment he’d met her, since she’d slipped him some of the day-old pastries when he’d first arrived in the city, penniless and alone. Elam had been close to starving when he’d stumbled into the coffee shop the first time.
But Sapphira had fed him. She’d helped keep him alive—not just with the food, but with her smile, with the kindness and warmth that radiated out of every part of her. She’d even introduced him to Patrick, who was part owner of the cafe with his wife, and who’d helped him get a job.
Now, she stood at the cash register, talking to one of the customers politely. Elam saw her gaze flick over their shoulder and lock on him, and a real smile flashed to life.
Nudging him, Gabriel said, “You’re staring.”
“I know,” Elam admitted, and his friend laughed.
“I’m gonna go sit down. You can bring me my usual, if you’re not too twitterpated to remember it.” Giving him a wink, Gabriel headed to another table, and Elam made his way toward the front.
He saw Sapphira glance at him again as she finished ringing up the customer who she was waiting on. A smile crossed her face again, and she raised her hand slightly, wiggling her fingers.
Heart warming, Elam lifted his hand and wiggled his fingers back.
