BIOGRAPHY

growing up, nadya had what many people would call the ideal childhood. she had two parents that were still very much in love with each other, even after so many years together. she actually enjoyed spending time with her siblings, especially her sister, who was only a year older than nadya. their family would even take a yearly vacation together, just wanting to have some time alone together. nadya truly cherished her relationship with her family; they were the most important people in her life. as they got older, nadya only grew closer to her sister, considering her one of her best friends. they spent more time together than with anyone else. until, that is, nadya's sister got a boyfriend. it wasn't the first time either of them had been in a relationship but something felt different this time. their time spent together dwindled down to practically nothing and nadya felt as though her sister had abandoned her. though it definitely hurt, she didn't want to cause trouble so she decided not to dwell on it. instead, she threw herself into a hobby she'd always enjoyed: baking. nadya had started baking as a little girl, always wanting to help her mom in the kitchen. once she got a little more comfortable, she started to do it on her own, even coming up with her own twists on traditional recipes. anytime someone complimented her on something she made, nadya would feel a sense of accomplishment, something she wasn't really used to feeling. once she really started dedicating her time to it, nadya realized she had a true passion for baking. when she was a little girl, adults would always ask what she wanted to be when she grew up but nadya never really had an answer. occasionally, she'd say something all little kids said like a vet or an astronaut but at age 20, she'd realized what she really wanted to be; a bakery owner. to start out, she got a job at a local bakery as a cashier, eventually working her way up to assistant baker a few years later. it was the first time she actually looked forward to going to work. everything in her life seemed to be working out. then, she found out her sister was getting married. nadya was happy for her sister, truly. though they certainly weren't as close as they used to be, she gladly accepted when she was asked to be the maid of honor. the night of the rehearsal dinner seemed to arrive in the blink of an eye and nadya was determined to have a good time. perhaps a little too determined, seeming as she ended up quite intoxicated. the morning of the wedding, nadya woke up with a blinding headache... and someone in her bed. that someone ended up being the worst case scenario possible; the guy her sister was set to marry in just a few short hours. she's still not sure how, but nadya somehow ended up making it through the wedding without blurting out everything and soon her sister was officially married. the next day, nadya started to look for a new city to move to; she couldn't bear facing what she'd done and she knew if she spent any time with her sister at all the truth would come spilling out. wanting to be as far away as possible, without leaving the country, nadya settled on the west coast, specifically california. the little town of sapphire cove seemed perfect, a place where she could be anyone she wanted to be. the thing is, she doesn't know who that person is anymore.

Comes from a huge family! Tons of siblings, cousins, aunts, uncles, etc. She grew up being the youngest girl and really close to her brothers, so a huge tomboy.

She was what you might call a mischievous teenager/child. It wasn't that she did bad things, but she would get into trouble. Mostly for doing dumb shit with her brothers and friends and pulling pranks.

Adrenaline junkie through and through. Something dangerous and or stupid? She's first to volunteer.

Hence her profession. She grew up with her uncle, dad, and several cousins as firefighters, paramedics, or cops. It was in her DNA. She liked the idea of helping people, but the danger and physical challenges part was also a bit of a plus for her too. And finding a way to prove herself just as strong if not stronger than the guys? Well how can a woman say no to that?

Nine years ago, she decided she wanted a change of pace, so she moved out here and transferred to the Sapphire Cove fire station. So far it has been a good experience though she has gotten into it with her fellow firefighters over her impulsivity and recklessness.

She lives in an apartment downtown with her rescue pit bull Scout.

She loves food especially burgers, bbq, and pizza. She's not really a fan of sushi or shrimp

BIOGRAPHY

ezra has always hated staying still. school was consistently a struggle for him, not because he didn't understand the material, but because he found it hard to pay attention while sitting down for eight hours a day. he just always had a sort of restless energy about him and was constantly fidgeting, something that usually annoyed whoever was seated next to him. one day, he started doodling on his homework. at the time, he didn't think anything of it. it was just something to keep his hands busy while he was trying to figure out a math problem. but then his math teacher told him how much she liked those silly little doodles; even called him talented. no one had ever called him that before. ezra started to take art a bit more seriously after that, a newfound confidence being unlocked within him. he even started really trying in art class, earning him a perfect grade. even his parents were happy that he'd found something he enjoyed so much. at least, until it was time to start thinking about college. he wanted to go to art school. he knew he wouldn't like going to a traditional college, that he'd probably end up failing or dropping out. as he was reminded though, his parents were the ones footing the bill and they didn't think he could have a real career as an artist. but that just made him want to prove them wrong. determined to go where he wanted, ezra began to apply for scholarships and grants, hoping to get as much tuition covered as possible. he ended up getting a full ride to an art school nearby, opting to live on campus so he could have his own space. after graduating, he knew he wanted to stay in california but didn't want to live too close to his family. he'd met someone in college that was from sapphire cove and they way they talked about it made ezra want to see it for himself. after visiting for only a few weeks, he made plans to move there as soon as possible. while he settled in, he got a job as a server but still made art in his free time. anytime he finished a piece he was particularly proud of, he'd post it to instagram. after a few years of living in sapphire cove, one of his pieces ended up going slightly viral, attracting the attention of several people that wanted to buy it. ezra had never sold a piece before, so this felt almost too good to be true. but after talking with a few people, he ended up selling it for enough money to cover his rent for months. after over half a decade of selling a few pieces a year, he finally felt comfortable quitting his server job and doing art full time. stupidly, he told his parents, thinking they'd be excited for him. instead, they told him he was making a mistake. their relationship still hasn't recovered from that. years later, his career is still fairly steady. some months are better than others, but ezra wouldn't have it any other way.

Born and raised in the countryside of Indiana, Joanna “Jo” Davis lived in a comfortable dwelling as a single child to her faithful and righteous parents. Her mother was a dedicated homemaker and her father was a preacher. Jo was their little angel, always quiet, well behaved, and practically obedient.

They were a perfect family among their community. They dedicated most of their time to the church. Mrs. Davis taught Sunday School, Jo attended every class and sermon, and Mr. Davis was the backbone that held them all together. They lived their life through every word of the bible.

As Jo grew older, so did her guilt and fears of sin. Every little thing she did felt unholy in the eyes of her Lord and that frightened her. She was a beautiful young woman and caught the eyes of many boys, yet somehow that was always her own fault. When she was sixteen, she felt herself falling for the youth group leader. He was twenty years old and talked about the lord and life like it was all such a beautiful gift. He made her fears smaller, and it was clear that he took an interest in her, as well.

It didn’t feel completely wrong at the time. Then again, at sixteen, he was the last thing to feel wrong. Her desires, however, were another story. She prayed every night for her feelings to go away for him, but they persisted. God didn’t listen. The two started having a secret relationship, though Jo wanted it to be public. He was the leader of the youth group - why wouldn’t her parents love him? Age didn’t mean a thing to her then. She was too naive to realize the power he held over her.

Settling in Sapphire Cove, Jo took up a job as a maid for an inn there. It had a steady income and the town suited her well. It reminded her nothing of home, and that’s exactly why she loved it.

Background

Elias Cruz Reyes born and raised in Sapphire Cove with Father Tomas and mother Lucia. Elias was the middle to three Reyes children, and their household was tumultuous to put it lightly. Tomas worked as a mechanic in town, with anger that always hung on the corner of his mouth, and Lucia who was too soft spoken and quietly devoted.

Tomas was the kind of father to resort to physical punishment as a form of discipline, where Elias learned that silence and obedience was key to survival. He was guarded, never too loud and never spoke when he wasn't spoken to, but he was always watching, calculating.

There was always one thing that kept his mind quiet in the noise of their household, and that was drawing. He didn't care whether it looked good, it just felt like relief to put his feelings on paper, drawings could replace the words he could never seem to find. Tomas was not fond of his son drawing, always claimed it was girly. His father had told him that once he is old enough he will work in the garage and help run the business. But this push just made Elias want to rebel even more. So he practiced, and eventually grew really good at his sketches and drawings.

At 16 Elias was laser focused on his passion and began to care less about the consequences, skipping school to tag buildings with his buddies, staying up late in his cousin's tattoo shop helping him to work around the shop, and giving his friends questionable stick 'n pokes in his room. This only enraged his father even more, but Elias didn't care about the screaming or the back hands when he would talk back, he was counting down the days until he turned 18 and could leave.

And that is just what he did, at 18 years old Elias fled his house and never looked back. He won't admit he still feels a twinge of pain when he thinks about the pleading look on his mothers face when he walked out the door. But Elias didn't regret his decision for one second. Doing what he could to scrape by, couch surfing, living out of his car while he apprenticed at Angel Ink. Until he finally saved up enough money to get his own place, and threw himself into his passion.

Background

Talia was born in Centralia, Washington to Alexander and Gabriela Merrick and was the oldest of one other sibling. Centralia not being known for much other than having higher crime and poverty rate averages than the state average of Washington. The Merricks were no strangers to those struggles. Alexander and Gabriela were high school sweethearts who had kids younger than a struggling couple their age should have, but they hoped that having kids would solve their problems.

Not long after Talia's sibling was born was when her father and mother decided to call it quits, and Alexander walked away without any hesitation or carrying on any responsibility. Gabriela was determined to to make things work for her and her kids, and was working from sun up to sun down. Despite being determined to carry the weight of her family on her shoulders, Gabriela turned to support from anything that could boost her energy to keep her going. She told herself it was a necessity to the long hours, but the necessity turned into a habit, and a habit turned into addiction.

Once the addiction started, Gabriela began to careless about keeping her and her children afloat as long as she could get her fix. It all came to an end when Talia was 5 and their mother was arrested during a traffic stop. Her and her sibling were split during the court process, with Talia being sent to live with her grandparents Mabel and Franklin.

Mabel and Franklin lived as humble and hard working farmers located not far out of town in Centralia. They had a tough love kind of mind-set and believed in old school values. As soon as Talia was old enough to start helping out around the farm she was put to work. With most old school values, Talia was mainly sent to help her grandmother doing things like feeding the animals, doing laundry, and helping to prepare dinner. It wasn't perfect, but it was stable and the first time Talia felt some sense of safety.

Growing up in a town like Centralia, one truly gets to see people struggle first hand, and instead of succumbing to the cycle, Talia knew exactly what she wanted to do. She had her sights set on Nursing, and worked herself to the bone in school to make sure she could get in on a full ride. Once graduated from high school, she set her sights to California. Talia decided on going to University of San Fransico, and graduated with her degree in Nursing, moving to Sapphire Cove not long after. And one thing never changed, Talia was determined on helping others.
