y'know. as a person who struggles a lot with empathy, i cannot even begin to describe how much essek means to me. idk man its just not very often where i get to see myself and my struggles depicted with kindness and care and not with the ultimate message that i have to completely change who i am to be treated like a human. he gets to go on a growing journey accompanied by people who not only love him but also are not actively punishing or demonizing him. i dunno man maybe im projecting a bit too hard but idk it just means a lot. he means a lot. i treasure him.

At pride fest in a small town, you run into everyone. Even your mom. Even your mom’s old coworker who says you look great. And then later when you run into your mom again, she tells you that coworker of hers said to her. “Emmett looks so…beefy! But I didn’t want to comment on his appearance like that so I just said he looked good.” And your mom will tell you this while this coworker is still in earshot. But it will feel so good hearing that some random lady perceives you as beefy. It will feel so good. You will also see an old high school friend with a shirt that says “testohunkie” and you will ask for a picture and they will flex for you and it will be hot. And also you’re there with someone you love for 10 hours helping them sell their art. And they will reach a personal record of sales. And you will love life.

Sometimes I feel bad for writing mostly queer stories and when I don't they don't have any romances. But THEN I remember that all of popular media is made out of cis and straight perfect supermodels and remember that writing, as many other forms of art is to create something you want to see.

who inspired you most in your youth?

probably my high school maths teacher. he was the first openly gay person i knew, he was an amazingly kind and patient teacher and i had the biggest crush on him lol. but he believed in me and supported me when no other adults in my life did and i'll never forget that.

i am very very proud of this man. continues to make me admire his work ethic, passion, sincerity, honesty, and just being a good human.

happy birthday to the wonder of monza, the youngest world champion in formula one, the four time world champion, the man who‘ll vote green in the next election, the man who‘s interested in sustainable farming and took an internship at a farm to educate himself more, the man who gives his all in every team he‘s in, the man who‘s loved by everyone and the man who has my whole heart.

thanks to this man, i‘ve found the courage to embrace change, to be happy about the memories, but to not be afraid to move forward.

thanks to this man, i started writing again. confidently. passionately. with so much support and love that i sometimes wonder what i did to be this lucky.

thanks to this man, i‘ve found some of my closest friends. the ones who made me learn how to take criticism, the ones who‘s name i only learned after writing with them for several months, the ones that i know will always be there for me even though they live in different countries or even continents and the ones that gave me a place to come home to, to open up and to forget my worries for a while.

this community, this sport, this man- they all helped me grow, observe, be patient and most importantly: try to be happy.
