After watching the absolute masterpiece of a video (movie) ish made, I fell down the wormhole of this tiny fandom. Got so sucked into the Glory to Westhelm that I watched a niche video about a Westhelm Senator reacting to ish's vid. Inadvertently learned some bts things.
Apparently, while Saps was basically living in Westhelm, Schpood and Saps shared a room and a double bed! THEY WERE ROOMMATES!
Thus, I was inspired to create this quick doodle to support the tiny ship known as...schpaparata? WhiteEmperor (cuz saps' skin is white & Schpood is emperor)? Whatever. I just rlly wanted to draw them.
Don't judge my character designs too harshly! I didn't put much thought into them (but I did include some). Saps got all his scars from run-ins w/assassins and also has baggy eyes from countless sleepless nights. Schpood, meanwhile, has fewer noticeable scars (his guards stand on business and do their jobs well) and looks much healthier. (No, they are not naked; I was inspired by Ancient Romans, who apparently wore short-sleeved/sleeveless tunics to sleep.)
I've somehow become so fond of this ship.
Just imagine:
Saps, after spending (in-game) weeks as a fugitive, is just so tired—exhausted, even. He flinches at every sound and constantly looks over his shoulder, wary of assassins and bounty hunters.
Then, he is welcomed into Westhelm and is given a room in the imperial quarters. But after one-too-many close calls, Emperor Schpood and Westhelm's Head of Military decide to just move Saps into Emperor Schpood's personal chambers. That way, the guards will be concentrated around them, and Saps and Emperor Schpood will both be kept safe.
One would think sharing a bed with your somewhat-ally, somewhat-friend would be awkward, but it strangely isn't.
When the sun sets, Saps easily slips into the double bed and falls asleep. He only briefly wakes up later in the night to the quiet sounds of Schpood entering the chamber and shuffling around to slip into his nightclothes.
The bed dips beside Saps as Schpood joins him underneath the covers.
The chamber falls to silence once more, and Saps soon descends back to sleep.
Schpood is his ally—he won't hurt Saps; he's had the opportunity to do so many times before but has never taken it. Not to mention, there are Westhelm guards stationed right outside the doors, all of whom are extremely competent at their jobs (there's a reason why Schpood has survived so many assassination attempts).
Here, Saps has nothing to worry about or be afraid of. No assassins or danger can touch him; only the warmth of Schpood's arms surround him. For the first time in weeks, Saps finally enjoys a good, long, refreshing sleep.
