Sarah E. Goode was the owner of a furniture store in Chicago, Illinois and the first African American woman to receive a patent. She invented the Folding Cabinet Bed. When folded up, the bed was transformed into a desk which included compartments for stationary and writing instruments. Goode’s design helped people who lived in tight spaces utilize their space efficiently. In 2012, the Sarah E. Goode STEM Academy, a science and math-focused high school was opened in her honor on the south side of Chicago. #BlackHistory #AmericanHistory #BlackHistoryFacts #BlackHistoryMonth #SarahEGoode #Furniture #FurnitureHistory #FurnitureDesigner #BlackInventor #BlackEntrepreneur #BlackWomenInHistory #BlackOwned #Chicago #BlackDesigner #STEM https://www.instagram.com/p/B9KS7gmHXGb/?igshid=1xwett3g0eerg
