Charlie took a deep breath as he read the email that came into his inbox. He was taking in the fresh air outside, seated at a coffee shop’s patio area. His Americano all of a sudden wasn’t quite as strong as he wanted it to be. It wasn’t like they expected a glowing review after he left the conversation with Sarah... He just didn’t appreciate being name dropped in the way that Sarah had.
His hand instinctively moved to fiddle with one of his earrings as he put his phone down and traded it for the caffeine fuelled drink on the table. Before long, the glass was empty - probably a poor decision for 3pm on a Saturday, but he digressed. Bringing the drink inside to return the reuseable cup, he turned around to head out, swinging the door and almost running into someone on the other side. “Apologies, I didn’t-”
It took a second to realize he had come face to face with Sarah. Of course.
“Ms. Modrik,” Charlie said with an empty smile. “How are you doing?”
