Actually in my Christian religion, Catholicism, being gay is not a sin and we're even taught in school that it's not. I just wanted to make that clear. Personally I was always taught that love is love so just know that not all Christians hate the LGBT community because a lot support it.

regardless if being gay is a sin or not, straight people still go straight to hell
