(Sardinella Tawilis) - the freshwater sardinella or “Tawilis” is the world’s only freshwater sardine - endemic to one lake in the Philippines called Lake Taal - dwindling due to overfishing, pollution and introduction of 
invasive species - conservative efforts have been taken with little to no success - pelagic feeder, planktivore (copepods, rotifers, clam shrimp etc.) - breeding season is from April to June when weather is warmest - popular food fish
