Eating sardines always feels like a good decision. Washed it all down with the rest of the fermented vegetable juice. King of the world. Bring on the rest of the day.

Lunch break! This is just another helpful reminder for the nouveau poor on how to eat elegantly AND superfoodily on a budget. Today we have a can of sardines for $1.89 with 4 Wasa crackers topped with homemade fermented vegetables, which is pretty much the price of cabbage and salt, one of the least expensive items in the produce case. If you’re my teenage daughter you’ll likely be grossed out by the thought of it (not to mention the smell), but any sensible hominid can quickly come to love the flavor and health benefits and price point of tasty little lunch like this.
