1. What animal best sums up your personality?
Hm. Sometimes I feel like a male lion. Put up on a pedestal, but utterly pathetic and useless. I also have the mane of hair to fit that image.
I guess in truth though I’m a lot like a mutt. I love being social with “my people” but I can get burnt out on too much socialization. I’m fiercely loyal and protective of those I’ve come to care for. I love to be there for people and just listen. I love enjoying what I enjoy and beating to my own drum.
My sassy, cranky, grumpy self is a pug though.
2. If you could change one historical event, what would it be?
Historical event is really specific so while I want to say WWII and all that it involves I think that’s amalgamation of historical events. I’d also like to prevent slavery or the residential schools but I don’t think I could pin point that to one exact event. So, I’m going to pick something close to home. I would prevent the Halifax Explosion.
3. If you could speak another language other than any you currently speak, what would it be?
I would like to be fluent in German.
4. What is your favorite fashion trend?
I love high wasted skinny jeans. I haven’t tried a pair of shorts yet but we’ll see how that goes when I actually go shopping for the summer. I also love leggings.
5. What is your favorite scent?
I love the smell of burning wood. I love how it lingers on your clothes and hair the day after. It just makes me thinking of camping and bonfires. It just brings me to a really happy place.
6. Do you like warm or cool temperatures?
Cool temperatures please and thanks. I can deal with heat to a certain extent but unlike some people in my life (looking at you Chris) I don’t love it by any means. When it gets to hot I loose the ability to function. Plus, it makes my curly hair into a crazier mess than it usually is.
7. What weather makes you happy?
Sunny with no chance of inclement weather makes me happiest. I don’t care about the temperature all that much, but if I had to pick I would choose crisp/cool. Clear sunny weather is ideal for my three favourite things, road trips, camping and hiking.
8. How do you deal with bugs in your house?
LOL This really depends on the bug and the size of the bug. I’m really scared of bugs. I cry if I find a tick on Shyla and I have to remove it. (I’m the only one who knows how so it becomes a labour of love) If there is a wasp in my house I panic and will do everything to get it out of the house or if that’s not an option I will eliminate the threat. My reactions to spiders in the house truly depend on the size and if Chris is with me at the time. If Chris is with me I have to be brave because he is absolutely terrified of spiders.
I recently had a horrible encounter with a spider when I was in Peru last month. I had just gotten out of the shower and went to the sink to get my hair comb and what not. I didn’t have my glasses on yet so when I looked into the sink I thought some of my hair had fallen off my brush. I go to pick this ball of “hair” out of the sink when it moved. I screamed and panicked until one of my roommates got rid of it for me. LOL
9. Do you collect anything?
I like to collect mementos (park maps with hikes crossed off, performance programs, etc.) so I can eventually put them into albums to go with the corresponding pictures. I have collected movie ticket stubs since I could remember. I also have started to collect Christmas ornaments. It’s tradition in my family that whenever you visit a new place you try and get an ornament from that location. I’ve only just started my own collection separate from my families since I’ll be leaving with Chris in the next year or so! Finally, I collect bandanas for my dog. I try and get Shyla a bandana from every new place I travel too (or people give them to us as gifts). My goal is to have a bandana from all 10 provinces plus the 3 territories. Right now she has 4/10 and has bandanas from 5 different American states.
10. If you could say something to anyone, and have no negative consequences, what would you say and to whom?
This is a really tough one. There are so many things I’d love to get off my chest to a lot of different people. Half of my problems in life are that I get too scared to REALLY talk to people. (This is why I have trouble replying to people sometimes D:)
I’d love to say how I feel about work, and how my boss treats my co-worker and myself. Then there’s one person who I’d really love to sit down and say everything too. Like what really happened? I know things can never be how they used to, but I’d love for both of us to just be at a happy place with each other again.
I’d also really love to tell certain family members how I feel about recent events.
11. What is something you wish everyone knew about you without having to explain it?
Ok, I may be interrupting this question in a different direction than I should, but here it goes it anyway…Last month on March 29th I was involved in a plane crash. (Just Google Air Canada flight 624) I was one of the 23 passengers admitted to hospital. I had extreme abdominal pain and couldn’t move or bend, so I was taken to the hospital to be checked for internal bleeding and what not. Thankfully, after an ultra sound (the Dr. told me I had super visible anatomy, my response was cool? LOL) and X rays there was nothing found. Just a nasty seat belt bruise like I had thought. My knee was also pretty bruised and roughed up. Chris believes a window hit me when it broke off the plane because when he put his shoes on to exit the aircraft there was a window laying on top of his boots. Our biggest regret is not smuggling the window as a memento. My Father said transport Canada would have spent all spring looking for that window hoping it would appear in melted snow. LOL
Anyway…At first I thought it was fine to recount the events and what not because why not? What a crazy story I had! But, recently I have become almost hyper sensitive to it all. I’ve always struggled with death my whole life and this has only added to that to that struggle. I’ve become increasingly anxious and have trouble sleeping because I can’t get all of these what ifs out of my head. My Mother has thankfully made arrangements so I can talk to a professional about everything. But, yeah, I’m very tired of random people asking me to recount what happened. If I want to talk about it, I’ll talk to you about it ok? Especially concerning the money aspect. That is just downright private.
On a bright side, I had an amazing trip to Peru and got engaged on the Inca Trail! Chris and myself aren’t deterred from flying, we’re already looking into visiting China, Iceland, and Japan within the next few years and he has flights booked for Scotland this summer. Anything we need to get through, we’ll get through together.
TLDR: I was in a plane crash, don’t pester me about it.
