Here's the funny thing: There was a point in time when I knew that Beska was going to happen—not necessarily if it was going to last, mind you, but definitely that it was going to happen—and I was basically okay with that. I thought their dynamic was going to be something like Gabriel and Sasha in Kaijudo—a sweet, dorky, competent but somewhat vulnerable character with a character who's unequivocally more competent, aloof, short on social skills, and kind of cold. (Not that Eska would have the excuse of being pretty much the bastard daughter of Deirdre and a solar angel, or anything.)
Of course, that was before they actually interacted...at which point it went awry even more quickly and dramatically than Makorra did. Which is why I was annoyed at that tomfuckery with them kissing multiple fucking times at the end (even if it was a prelude to the rudderless thing officially sinking).
