Sash and Bustle Review
Sash and Bustle is located at 233 Carlaw Avenue, just north of Queen Street. They carry dresses ranging from $900-$3200. Bonus points for allowing brides to take photos!
This boutique is clean and has a small but thoughtful collection of dresses. When you make an appointment you will be the only bride in the salon. I went with 3 bridesmaids on a Saturday afternoon and it was great to have the entire place to ourselves. Weekends can be a hectic place for bridal shopping in Toronto, so this was a nice change of pace.
The staff was friendly, but their approach is to let you browse and grab dresses on your own. Great for a bride that knows what she wants, and a nice change from salons that don't let you look around. I was helped into the dresses, but other than that the attendant was pretty hands off. My friends and I actually really appreciated being about to discuss the dresses without having a salesperson interject their own opinion. Others might want more hands on attention.
As I mentioned previously the selection is small, better suited for brides with a more alternative style or those looking for a destination dress. More traditional brides probably won't find what they want here, most dresses wear column, draped, or fairly casual. For example they only had 2 ball gown style dresses at the time of my visit. I actually tried one on for the fun of it and the sales woman did not mind even though we all knew there was zero chance of me buying that particular dress.
Ultimately I did not find "the" dress here, but I definitely enjoyed my visit.
