regarding your tags, you can find translated klub outside q&a on reikorun and wheelsome's blogs, although a bunch of big bleach accounts on twitter will translate them faster

btw cotc's artwork is split between a lot of artists from both acquire and square enix according to the artbook, i've tried looking into some of them but it's hard to find any information since they're not on social media - one exception is UCMM (same @ on twitter) but even they are incredibly inactive. the reason some other gacha games openly credit their illustrators while cotc doesn't is because games like FEH rely on freelance artists who need that kind of social media exposure while cotc only hires in-house artists to maintain a consistent style for their games. not that i'm saying one method is better than the other but games that are based off existing ip Usually fall in the latter camp

Ooooh, that explains so much, because yeah, a lot of in-house illustrators aren't credited as heavily for most game companies, but freelance is a different beast altogether. Also explains why the VAs are consistently credited, since I'm pretty sure a lot of voice-work is freelance as well.

I do have the 2016-2020 Octopath Artbook, and I can get the illustrators' names from there, since there's an artist comment under each section of art, but the artbook only covers the 3-star, 4-star (at launch), and the eight "starter" 5-star characters. I know there's a second artbook that hasn't been localized yet and I could probably get some more names from it if I decided to just go ahead and buy it and try my hand at translating it, but I'm not sure how many characters are or aren't covered by it, so there's still a lot of art that I won't find credits for anytime soon (esp. given how frequently characters get added to the game).

Still, thanks for sharing this insight! My frustrations with trying to find illustrator credits feel a little less frustrating now.

id probably say the writing part itself....putting my ideas into actual words LMAO 😭

i think a large part of this is my high standards and harsh self-criticism, but trying to bridge the gap between some of my planned instances in the plot is challenging

getting chara voices and characterisation down is also tough when im writing a chara
