Time for our Splatterday Saturday feature where @dlizotte82 will be featuring some of the goriest films ever made. Today’s gore-fest is the 1980 Italian film Zombie Holocaust, also known as Doctor Butcher M.D. when it had it’s US release in 1982. Directed by Marino Girolami and starring Ian McCulloch, from Zombie 2 and Contamination, and Alexandra Delli Colli who also starred in The New York Ripper. This movie involves a team of scientists who travel to a pacific island to follow a trial of corpses where they find a doctor performing crazy experiments, creating zombies. They must run from the zombies and the cannibals of the island which leads to some of the most fun gore effects you could expect from an 80’s Italian film. Very much inspired by Cannibal Holocaust, this movie adds zombies to up the crazy and the result is eye gauges, decapitation and scalpel removals. When I think of Italian gore, this movie has never stopped grossing out my thoughts so I really recommend this as a disgustingly fun time.
