Horror has always been a political genre. You can try to ignore it but that doesn't make it any less true. Alien is a feminist pro abortion movie about rape and forced pregnancy, Dawn of the dead makes fun of the consumerism culture of America, Godzilla is anti war, Videodrome is about how media can influence us negatively and desensitizes us to violence, Candyman is about systemic racism and violence against people of color. And that's just 5 examples.

Just because you don't agree with the sentiment doesn't mean that it's not there
