- ED - Unfortunately, for the foreseeable future we need an ally (friend?) in the Middle East besides Israel so Saudi Arabia is going to keep getting away with stuff like this. Sure, most of the the 9/11 hijackers were from Saudi Arabia. Sure, the Saudis finance jihadist groups. Sure, the Saudis didn't do jack shit to help fight ISIS. But on the bright side, the Saudis do buy billions of dollars worth of weapons from us.
Besides Israel, there are only two REAL choices for another friend in the Middle East. Iran or Saudi Arabia. Russia and Iran chose each other. The US and Saudi Arabia chose each other (in 1945), much like we chose Russia an our ally against Nazi Germany in WWII.
With friends, sometimes you have to look the other way, like with the poorly executed Saudi assassination of journalist Jamal Khashoggi, who I shed no tears for as he was a bad man being a member of the terrorist Muslim Brotherhood.
In the future, I suggest that Saudi citizens accused of committing serious crimes in the US not be granted bail or sure as hell they're gonna disappear.
