I’ve been meaning to check out @island.sausage for a while but because of my work schedule I just couldn’t make it during the week to get there. Luckily on Friday I finally had some time to grab a Char Siu Sausage for an afternoon meal. The hoisin sauce with cilantro and cucumbers really made it for me. I think @_airmax95king_ was the one that gave me the heads up for this edition of #SausageOfTheDay - Frank’s Foods Franks. Hailing from Hilo, its another version of those red wieners that Hawaii people love. Since it’s #NationalChiliDay today, I’m making some octopus hot dogs ala Midnight Diner style to go with some @zippys over rice (6 tentacle style). Instead of the raw chopped onions I usually ask for, I topped it with some homemade pickled onions and jalapenos. Comfort food don’t have to pretty, it just gotta be comforting. Have a good night. #SausageOfTheDay - Maui’s Own Hot Dogs - They got that #RedRocket color that Hawai`i locals love, and are the right length to cut in half to make wiener octopuses, but I feel that if I were to eat a chili frank plate, I would need two of these wieners to equal to one of those @zippys franks (and sometimes I would see people at Zips order with an extra one!) I usually boil hot dogs like these up before I fry them a bit, I think to make a little more juicy. Does anybody else do that? First #SausageOfTheDay post for 2019 involves some treats from Myukrang Hot Dog in Maikai Market. The first one is their Potato Dog, and it tasted like Pringles were wrapped around a churro wrapped around an Oscar Mayer wiener. The second one was a Squid Ink Mozzarella In A Dog. I started feeling like one of those #Mukbang chicks when I bit into the cheesy part. The bottom half was the hot dog, which they cut to look like squid legs. Overall I find the sweet and savoriness to be interesting, but for treats like these, usually the sausage is treated as an afterthought.
