Interview with Amanda!
Another one of our favorite fabulous females featured tomorrow night at our NEW YEAR, NEW YOU event is Amanda Andella, an extremely talented Boston-based hairstylist. We interviewed her and got some secrets on her hair tips:
Do you have a staple hairstyle?
I love soft waves on both short and long hair. I create this with a cone shaped curling iron. You wrap the hair starting up near the root to create this look.
What’s your favorite current hair trend?
I am loving the long bob. This polished look is so chic and easy to achieve, even for those that struggle with styling.
What hairstyles are most flattering?
Hair styles are all about balance, which works with your face shape. If you have a oval face everything works (lucky ducks). A simple part change can soften or create a more severe look without committing to a change. If you are looking to celebrities for a style change, try to find someone with similar face shape, hair color and texture.
How do you get the perfect bun?
The perfect bun is achieved with a flexible hairspray, a soft brush and a pony tail. If you need the structure, use a hair donut or just tease the underneath, then wrap into a bun. A bun will work best the day after you curl your hair because you can pin the ends around your bun for added interest.
What is your secret to curling hair?
The secret to curling hair is clip it up and take sections. Also, always try to curl on day old hair and your curls will be smooth and shiny. When curling decide whether you want them curled toward your face or away. Think about splitting your hair in half at your part and curl the right side either forward or back and then do the left. They should mirror each other.
Do you have any tips for us?
Dry shampoo should be your best friend, if you don't like it try a different brand. It is literally a life saver, they also have a powder version. My favorite is by Redkin. Dry shampoo absorbs the oil and adds volume!
